Drifters In Miami

Ricky we all want the drifting scene in Miami to expand! We know how hard it is to setup an event and really don't know if you can pull it off, Now I just hope that you can prove out doubts are unfounded and show us a real, safe and well run event.

And yes I do feel english is importaint..

If your serious then post some more info on the site, sponsors, etc...

If this is for real then start a pre-reg list that ends two weeks prior to the event so that way you know for sure that everything can be covered.

I know it's not easy, but it's worth a try. The way i see it if enogh car's show up then sponsers will follow, then guess what it will be much easier 2 hold the event. The only thing i might think is wrong in my approch is that maybe my idea is alittle ahead of it's time seeing that no one really knows me in this forum, but my intentions are 4 the good of drifting.

As far as pre-reg we have 2 see how many people are serious about this, then we can move foward i can't count on people just telling me they will show up then not show up and end up with 3 cars racing 4 nothing. I am doing all of this out of my own pocket so i have 2 be safe with my moves. As of now i have no sponsers helping me, but i am working on some.

If you hve a location for example a parking lot you'll need an Liability insurance, which is almost imbossible to get especially when you are just starting up. If you need any help with organizing events we have little bit of experience on that field. You can call me on my cell (561)312-1871. Any ideas you have for advertising are also welcome, obviously TV, Radio, Flyers and internet aren't enough. So we are open for ideas.

Harri I have a feeling if you were to host another event at a parking lot it would fill up very fast.
I think that last SNAFU really got peoples attention! I know I would prereg the first day!!

Also make sure that this event does not happen a week before or after the OSW events..... because then it would be harder to get people to pre-register.

yeah I love orlando speedworld but them having an event everymonth for the next year kinda gets rid of the prospect of other events at other tracks cause the dates will probly conflict with each other and many people can only afford to do one event a month anyways

the biggest problem that we really face when it comes to getting events is the insurance. Why? because the companies see what the sport is and raise the price to one of the highest policies and its ridiculous! they see a bunch of cars sliding around and you automatically need a $5 million dollar policy. Really it is hard to start events and not alot of people have the resources to do so! but if you can get a steady set of events going then you can really take miami by storm. Tertech did a great job getting the hialeah events and it sucks because homestead speedway is really a ridiculous amount of money kind of like Limerock is for us! I dont really know the rates but your best bet would probably be to get a kart track. Maybe even consider talking to perry airport and see if they would rent out a runway or a section of the airport that they dont use!

Hey, I just moved here, but what happened with the drift event at the Homestead race track. I still hear people talking about it.

wow man the d1 driver search and drift showoff at homestead speedway! that was a really really long time ago. I havent heard anything about them going back in a while!

i dunno ...but regardles of the fact that orlando has just about every month filled with events doesnt mean homestead cant begin the legacy......a great deal of miami drivers go up to orlando...(miami, ft laud, and west palm drivers)...lets save that trip and see if you can do it at homestead....just pick up the phoen if you havent already.....call the tracks schedulers and find out what kind of numbers they are talking for a days worth of events. ..... then do a pre-registration that is refundable just before you agree to rent the track....just to see if the number of drivers is suitable based on the amount of funds you plan on dishing out yourself..... if the numbers work.... go full fledge....if not...simply refund the money and explain that the numbers didnt work out.... as long as people know they will get their money back if theres no event...(given that there is some sort of recipt to recieve their money back).... either you pay an race..or..get your money back because there isent an event any longer.... if anything.... generation import.com and import-speed.net and sites like that who do footage and photos are invited and you can get a little exposure out of it....after that first event... the orlando drivers will come here....for the obvious reasons...homestead is a much nicer track!

am i too optimistic?

and just who's going to pay for the track insurance to cover the event? madddd $$$$ if you're having spectators also.. g/luck finding someone to cover that, especially if you're under 23.

bro, you have great dreams. Homestead track is out of Ter Techs reach, much less an independant party trying to put something together. I really appreciate your devotion, hell who knows you might be able to pull something off. I think you should start low, then aim high. Look for smaller venues, parking lots, and things like that.

Homestead has a go kart track *the parking lot* that I have seen MANY autocross clubs run. If we could something like that up, it would be amazing. Try talking to the people at metro zoo, we used to run autocrosses there. The back parking lot is almost NEVER used anymore.

My advise to you would be to start talking to your local autrocross clubs and see where they set up shop.
