ok, i know this is an oooollllddd thread, and that i'm kinda new as well, but has anyone thought of maybe opening a track down in dade? Maybe something with small events/practices every weekend? i know it needs insurance and the whole 9 yds to be a fully functioning track, but maybe if its researched right and done the same way, its possible. That way, we have a track thats alot closer, it's not a circle track, and very accesible...
That is a pretty good idea, i'm willing to check them out, but here is the probelm. In Miami not to many ppl drift, put it like this half the members on this site don't drift. I have an investor that is down to drop the dime on this idea, but if I don't have enough backing mainly ppl that are willing to pay to go to the event. I will loose that investor. I will be getting something going on but I have to make sure that things go smoothly or we will be back at square one. When I spoke to Harri from Ter-Tec he told me the main reason they stopped the events in Miami is because not enough ppl would come out to the events so they ended up loosing money. This is something that cannot happen again. To be honest after the gay and the furious movie comes out we will have an event going on atleast by that time even if on ten cars register we will still have enough spectators to insure us holding another event.

P.S Holding an event every weekend is completly out of the question, not many ppl can afford to pay for track time every weekend. Maybe 1 or 2 times a month is fine. :D Oh yeah and holy dead thread LOL

Wait wait.... they are charging $1500 just to DESIGN the track. That's not building it or anything. So what you are suggesting is basically adding another $1500 to the total cost. From what I gather, you're paying $1500 for a fully well designed blueprint, but that's it.

Next you have to deal with two things: First is the land.... and if you havent checked.... real estate in Dade is stupid high. If you dont have a huge place that you already own.... dont even think of buying land to build this track.

Then after this you have to raise the money to pay for the track being built.... including all the facilities and everything required by the state (anything from barriers to fences to even bathrooms).

THEN you talk about insurance.

I dont mean to put you down, but this has been covered 1000 times. Trying to build a track is the completely wrong way to go about it to find a venue.... especially in South Florida, where land costs millions. Look at GA, where the real estate is a fraction of what it is here.... the guys there bought a kart track that was already there to make slight modifications for a drift track. Not even where land is cheap do you see people "buying land" to just build tracks.

The best thing for FL right now is to find an open parking lot or a track that already exists and try to rent it out.

^^^ I agree 100%^^^ No one can afford to do all that crap unless they can insure that ppl will come and even then I doubt they will take the chance. Damn I wish hialeah speedway was till available:(

well, if maybe we can find a sponser for the park that will pay the bills...once we have designed the track and pitched and sold the idea to them. If we can honestly get them to see that there will be a steady flow of people coming every week to participate or (even better for them) spectate...they might just do it. That's why I'm saying to have events/practice every weekend. If they do it once a month for lets say $50 fee...barely anyone can afford that. But if they do every weekend for $10 each, you don't think more people would be inclined to participate? Who knows? Maybe 3F3F will actually be good for something.

you have to find a developer who is whilling to let you use some of the land, like the naples track if we could have contacted that developer before the track was torn down we might had had a chance to do something with it.

The Naples track was allready sold to a developer to build on......i found it too late. plus there would be no way to afford how much that land probably sold for. i do have some ideas that i will unleashe on the sfldrift scene soon.

ps. i am poor but i would pay $100 a weekend to drift every weekend. get a job people oh and to some of you get a car.
