Drifting at Moroso: The Post-Event Discussion Thread

Man I had a great time(except for the rain) and I wasn't even driving! Thanks to Ter Tech, Moroso and all the drivers, spectators and other vendors and people that made the event possible. Thanks to the driver who gave me rides: Juan, Erick, and Rob.

I will start a post to post some of your event footage so we don't clutter this thread!

The only thing that disappointed me was the kid in the black S13 Hatch driving like and Idiot after the event leaving the Shell onto Beeline Hwy. Harri and the guy from moroso just got done saying keep it off the streets and on the track and more and bigger and better events will go down. Then you go and attempt to drift across4 lanes into traffic through a puddle. Not cool at all. Grow up.

Drifting at Moroso: The Post-Event Discussion Thread.

Just got home and I'm trying to piece all the thoughts together.

First and foremost, I'd like to thank Ter-Tech for hosting this event. I'd also like to thank the paramedics and Moroso staff for all their help (especially pulling me out of the tire barrier).

I think this event was great for South Florida. Drivers on the advanced group who had some ego coming from drifting at a parking lot event or oval... from all that experience that was thought to be great, Moroso put everyone on their feet with a reality check. Everyone had their moment. I thoroughly enjoyed a fast, technical track. Although I am not sure I made the best out of it, I am anxious to go back. Anyone who can consistently control their car sideways under those conditions is truly amazing.

More thanks goes to everyone who gave me instructions: Chelsea, Piner, Hannu and all others who had something to share. The road to great drifting is pretty long, and any help is great help.

"Opps of the day" definetly goes to Jose from AeroK. Hey, it happens to the best of us man. Runner up goes to Ryan Kaufman who takes the Dukes of Hazzard award of the day. :bigthumbu

And even more thanks to MyCulture, who provided a great experience with all the VitaminWater and VitaminEnergy. (And a place to crash!) Also very thankful to Doug from HybridPerformance.com for the grub in the afternoon. You guys save our appetites!!!

I think that's all for now. Personally I don't think I did my best but guess what? I did not touch my ebrake once today! (Surprise f*ckers! :D). Practiced many other techniques that I would like to further improve on. All in all a great day. Got practice in the wet and dry and learned a lot!!

Thanks again to everyone who helped this become a great experience.

- Erick

Today was awesome, although I was never sent to do anything as a volunteer -_-... Everytime they would Harri would just leave the spot so we would be left standing there, but all in all it was fun as hell. Thanks Ter-Tech, Vitamin Water, and Moroso!

Overall it was an awesome event, and the weather was good compared to what i was expecting it to be. That track was definetly a skill builder and im looking forward to hitting it up again. Thanks everyone at TerTech, Moroso, MyCu, and everyone else that came out to support! Im ready for the coverage now :boring:

Event was great. Always a pleasure hanging out with everyone. Hopefully I can have my pics uploaded by tonight. Right now I'm in the Turnpike watching my g/f wangan the Celica.

just got home. awesome event, even if it was my first and i was only a spectator. hopefully for the one in September i'll have my car and be ready to go.

The skid pad was cool, and I def saw alot of improvement over the course of the day. The road course...wow. That last sweeper was amazing to watch.

It was also great to meet a bunch of you, and finally put a face to a name.

Props to Harri, all of Ter-Tech, MyCu ( the vitamin water rocked), Moroso, and everyone else who helped w/ this event. It was a blast. I say have one every month if possible, even though we'd all be dead broke after 3 of them :bigthumbu

My photos will be up tomorrow night or Monday, depending on how long they take to develop. (yes, I still use a film camera)

almost forgot:

Doug and Rob @ STFUandDrive...thanx for hooking it up w/ the hot dog...good looking out :bigthumbu

Shokka_shane...thanx for the lift too and form the road course...although I think your trunk lid hates me

man i didnt get over there in time to watch smdg bois run....fawk!

I had an amazing time today. It was definitely the most challenging event I have ever driven, adapting from turbo s14 to NA miata is not easy. I had a few issues when I swapped some good tires on the back, but thank god Sebastien brought the extra used tires. Too much grip had us pushing too hard, at times uncontrollably fast. Tossed the used tires on again and everything fell back into place.

BIG UPS TO what miata? FOR LETTING ME DRIVE YOUR CAR ALL DAY. I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH.

Thank you Sebastien.

Harri, Hannu, Ter-Tech Staff, Moroso Staff, Hybrid Performance, STFUandDrive.com (Rob), MyCulture, Photographers and the tire changer: I believe today was the best day for Florida Drifting. The park can accommodate everyone, the track is amazing, and based on the drivers meeting at the end of the day it looks as if there is a future for more events.

Ter-Tech you have constantly brought us excellent events, they keep getting better and better. Thank you so much for everything. Moroso Staff, you allowed us to drift on your road course and everything went according to plan. Hybrid Performance and STFUandDrive Rob, lunch today was invaluable. The drivers were able to grab a hamburger and bottle of water in short time and continue driving. :bigthumbu MyCulture supplying the vitamin water keeping everyone hydrated when the sun came out was essential. Last but not least the tire changer kept on mounting new rubber the entire day so we could fill the photographers memory cards. :bigthumbu

I can not wait until the proposed event September 2ed.

Just got back to Orlando.. I want to thank everyone that came over and said whats up. The rain did suck mostly for us, but hey it cleared up :)

Thanks for the good times - and I guess I can say out of all of my highlights, nothing beats the fork lift picking up the guys car. (sorry it wrecked) but the fork lift was a nice touch! :)
