if you let of the gas the car will correct itself, if you stay on the gas you will spin, the trick is keeping the balance between those two things. Dont slam on the breaks when you understeer, and learn to control the car in the rain doing slow drift donuts. This will show you how to react and handle the car... there are a ton of skidpad events where you can get the answer to your question.... But listen to the people on top of me, cause i dont know shit about drifting.

if you just cant 'end' it smooth it could be because the low power means at a certain rpm the tires just GRIP and unless you are good, it is gonna be jerky. with more power you can 'walk' the drift out longer and smoother. partially to blame is also the open diff as the jerk is that one-wheel regainin grip.
