ok so the other day i was driving my sr swapped s13 down the interstate with the ac on and the temperature started to creep up it got up tp 190 so i slowed down to 65 mph and the temp slowly went back down a little bit mabe around 180 or so so i sped back up to 85 and the temp started creeping again this time i wanted to see if it would level out the temp got up to 198 and it was still climbing so i slowed back down
the car runs any where from 174-182 in town
as for my cooling system i have a stock tstat silacone hoses pbm 3 row radiator and maxima dual e fans

there is no reason with my current cooling capacity that i should run hot the cooling system is completely topped off with a 50/50 water coolant mix

any ideas on whi this is happening

water wetter is just masking the problem

take the thermostat out and see if the problem stops.. if it does then you found your problem

If you take out the thermostat then the motor will never warm up.... you can test the thermostat by putting it in a pot of boiling water.

how will the motor never warm up? it will just take a little longer, but taking longer to warm up is better than overheating

you could leave it out since its florida or you could get a new thermostat (if its the problem) they are pretty cheap

Sounds like the tstat shit out, you've driven that car like 20k miles how it sits so you know the cooling system can support it but then again is that the first interstate trip with ac now?

:hmmm:...............

If it was the tstat it wouldnt cool down sounds like a leaking headgasket leaking exhaust gasses in coolant. Try http://blockchek.com/store.htm

Easiest way to test that out... Wait till car is cool, remove rad cap, start car. If nothing happends your prob good, if rad fluid shoots up a little then there is pressure getting into the rad.

So yea, check all the stupid shit first and start with the cheapest. Try that^... IF nothing happends remove your thermostat, bleed it properly and take it for a test drive. If it still does it try new water pump...

Report back with info.
