like the title states, i need the easiest way to install this transmission while on the ground....car will be on ramps hopefully and jackstands, just need to put this tranny in by this weekend

lol, i've always used two scissor jacks. one in front one in back and jack up one side at i time. then when its up to the right height i crawl under from behind the car, hold on the the rear bumper and jam it in with my foot. lol

mmmmmmm

make sure your exhaust is seperated either at the dp or straight, loosen the mounts, get a piece of wood and jack up the oil pan with the wood (so it distributes the weight)... should tilt your motor pretty far to the point where if you can get one good lift the tranny should have no clearance issues against the tunnel

^lol funny he has problems getting his shaft in, hehe
do you use a clutch alignment tool? try poking it from different angles, hehe

if its not going in, chances are you suck at teh clutch allignment tool.
loosen your pressure plate, center the clutch and presto! Good luck

if its going in a s13 the best way i found to do it on jack stands is install it with the starter hump down once you get the shaft in deep enough rotate the tranny to proper position and slide it the rest of the way in. I couldnt do it by my self i needed a second strong person. I put the ramps under the rear wheels and jackstands under the front. You also have to loosen the motor mounts and jack up the motor from the oil pan using a piece of wood. It took me a few tries to get it in correctly so dont give up if it dosnt work the first time.

I lift it bench press style, then just wiggle it till the shaft slides it. Then just spin it back and fourth until you get the splines lines up.
