Effective carbon removal??????

So today i decided to remove the chain guides and paint my valve cover. when i opened up the valve cover there was heavy sludge and carbon build up in there. What are the most effective ways anybody here has gotten rid of this in their cars, besides removing it and taking it to get cleaned. ive used seafoam in a different car but i never opend up the engine to check it after. Any opinion is good thanks:bigthumbu

seafoam again sounds convincing, any other suggestions........and how well do motor flushes work. and what brands are recomended.....................

id recomend not doing anything, it will loosen stuff that wont come off right away, eventually however, it will come off. Then it will clog the oil pick up and you be retrieving pieces of your bottom end from the highway.
