Electrical Experts ***HELP***(push start)

So basically I thought I knew what I was doing...KEYWORD: Thought.


I need to install a push start button on my s13 cuz of ignition problems....so I went and bought a kit from ebay....thinking it couldnt be that hard to install. Directions came in japanese....:confused:

and my car's ignition is cut and cant start it unless I hook up this push start.:mad:

now....can anyone help with installing this thing fresh from scrach ( not using all the bull shit it cam with ) , just putting it stright to the ignition, and a power for all the accessories and stuff.....

All I ask for are some SIMPLE directions on how to install this thing....maybe a diagram for the love of GOD....

You still need a working ignition switch in order for it to work at all. There needs to be Key On Power. If not the car won't turn off. Where is the ignition cut? The harness is servicable. There is a plug about 8" down from the switch. Swap it out. If it is cut past that. You need to have it soldered up and fixed.
 
nah dude....I have a spare....I already installed it....but still need to install this push start tho.....

think of it as stock....;)
 
OK I missunderstood I thought you wanted to get rid of the whole Turn Key stuff.

Installation is fairly Easy. I'll find the link for it. It is like 4 wires.

In the mean time check 12volt.com
 
actually its 2 wires if you want to keep the ignition on function with your stock ignition.

All you do is take the switch and give it a ground, then take the main wire that sends signal to the starter. Attach both of those to the switch, and when you push the button it grounds the starter starting the car.

But this only will work if you are still using the ignition as your key on source. Meaning the ignition is powering your accessories.

Pretty much the same idea. Find the wire by probing your ignition switch with a Digital Multimeter by turning the key to see which wire gets hot in what position. Then take that wire and run it to a switch and ground the switch. When you toggle the switch it completes the circuit sending power to the accessories.

Some people prefer using relays, But I did mine without and haven't had any problems with it in over 2 years.

wow lol the starter is grounded to the the bolts that hold it to the tans. run power to the switch and then to the solinoid. and your done if you wana get fancy any shit put an inline fuse

my car has the same problem. try moving the key back and forth from start to run really quick and see if that works. that works for me most of the time because having to filp open to start up the car gets kind of annoying for me. but it all depends where you are going put the push button

Yea you are absolutely right. I wasn't awake yet when I responded! Sorry for the mis-info.

But it is very easy to do.
