engine runs, but wont idle, and tranny smokes?

ok so i got the engine to run, when i started it up at first it wouldnt idle, but after holding it at like 2k for a while it was fine

so i said ok sweet lets take this sucker on a test drive

everything was good till about 5 minutes and smoke (smelled good for some reason) started coming out of the tranny

it would only come out when i would put it into gear, or when i would turn, then it would die out

i only had 2 and a half quarts in the tranny at that time, so i decided to put the rest of the bottle to make it 3 quarts, and it still smokes, but now it makes not so much of a grinding noise but a wierd noise

any ideas on what it could be?

bring me the cherry picker i neeed it

lmao what an ass.

check the side plug on the trany make sure the right level of fluid is in there...
there shouldnt be any smoke coming out. unless you fucked up on the clutch or sum like that....

lol i already talked to him aboutn this problem, but yeah who put ur clutch in? please dont say u lol

My trans smokes cause fluid comes out of the shifter hole

the most important question here is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what the smoke is. I and along with alot other guys here that know there shit can tell smoke from the smell. i can tell how every fluid smells in my car. so i know if im buring oil, or trany, or rad fluid, or ANYTHING>

what does the smoke smell like?

clutch?
tranny fluid?
engine oil?
weed? you shure you dont do drugs? lol

check the smell and go from there. it could just be you left the plug on something loose and some fluid is geting burned cus of heat or sumething like that.

also. you have to leave the engine running a good 30 mins before you drive it, so you can burn all the oil and dirt on the engine and make sure no leaks are noticible.

just like your stove at home, you gota wait till it burns the oil drips and it will smoke but then itll stop.

turn it on, and leave it on , check for the smell and where is coming from and wait see if it goes away.
:)

haha the smell doesnt smell like weed otherwise i woulda asked my tranny to smoke me out for putting me through all this trouble haha. it doesnt smell like tranny fulid either, it smells kinda good actually, idk how to explain it though

i did the clutch with nate (ngibson) and george (on the forum but dont remember his name), so i doubt i fucked i up cause they know what they are doing

the engine is idling now, but one other thing i forgot to mentioin is the gauge for hte water temp isnt working, so i guess somthings not hooked up but i cant figure out what

we had to check evcery unhooked harness because the car wouldnt start at first, but anything left is just a sensor from the engine being forem a 96 (obdII) and mines a 95 (obd1)

any ideas on what that smoke and noise is though?

edit:

ok wtf so i started the car to see how it idled, and it was fine, but i notice when i went to slighlty rev it, there was a little pause between when i pressed the pedal and when it reved, so i turned of the engine and tightened the throttle cable a little bit cause it was loose

so i go back to turn the car on to check the throttle cable, and to let it idle for like 30 minutes like you guys are saying, and i hear CLICK and nothing happens

whast really wierd tho, with the key turned in the ignition, if i go to turn the headlights on, or if i flash my high beams, everything in the car dies untill i let go

like the clock, all the battery, engine, etc. lights that come on when the key is in, etc.

i didnt even touch the battery or anything all i did was tighten the throttle cable

anybody got an idea of what this might be?

It smells like buring tranny fluid LMAO I know exactly what it is on my car i dont have the spring the pushes the shifter cup up to hold it tight so fluid comes out of my tranny when i drift it only happens when i drift. Im not worried about it i add a little after each event to compensate. I know alot of people who have the same issue with SR trannys. Oh and yes i smoke tons of ganja LMAO

If your going from obd1 to 2 i would have swap your manifolds from your orginal motor then you dont have to change any wires its just reconnect everything. Sounds like you have a short somewhere

alright my friend took out his knife and scraped out the connectors for the battery and it started right up, so thats good to know

eveyrtrhing seems smooth, but the engine is like twicthing every like 7 seconds for some reason

everything sounds fine with engine, other than a little bit of timing chain rattle

i still dont know what to do about the tranny, im gonna pull it into the garage and check the tranny fluid level in about 30 minutes which gives me time to clear out my garage

only thing that might have anything to do with, i should probably mention, i put 80w90 synthetic instead of 75w90 but i didnt think it should really make a difference

oh shit SAS, funny you say that about the shifter not being pushed in, cause i didnt put my C clamp in yet just incase i needed to check for shit cause i remember the C clip being a bitch to get out, maybe thats why its smoking cause its not sealed?

^tightin the timeing chain and retime the motor its probobly hesitating cause its not on time just right

well i let it idle for 30 minutes, and i noticed a teeny tiny bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, but when i went to go chedck the oil it was the same as it was (a little bit above H, so maybe its high oil pressure?)

i also noticed the dipstick was really hot, anone know what this could be?

wow.... ok?
well maybe since ur temp gauge dont work ur overheating and your going to burn ur engine and finally die.
lol

check the conector for the temp sensor see if its pluged that should fix ur gauge. thats all there is to it.

also why you put synthetic? who da hell told you to put syntethic? do you have a porcha? a lambo? NO

also put your god damn c clip and rubber boot on there then put your trim and leather boot that will fix the tranny.
dont worry about it, just drive it like that. worst case you swap it if it goes out wich i doubt it.

sputeting is normal. you got an engine that god knows what it was doing or where it came from.

look into the fuel filter, vacuum, plugs, spark all that good stuff and ur intake maf and so. make sure EVERYTHING is ok.

then it will start coming together.

the chain rattle is prob the timing chain top guide that is still there. and it wasnt removed.

the top guide along with the outer side guide are nissan factory recalls and can or SHOULD be removed on ka;s as they tend to wear out, get loose and sometimes brake.

mine broke and was ratleling on top of the chain so long that i got grinded to a mirror finish.

so pup out that valve cover and take the guide out.

if you didnt mess with the distributor. you should be ok for timing.

white smoke from the tail is gas/ or water not oil. oil is more like bluish.

check your rad water and look for oil in the water or anything.

drain your oil and look for metal pieces. with a pantyhose as a filter or sum like that.

then after you do ALL THIS!

and you do it 2 or 3 times. you can post on here again.

till then just go away. lol :bigthumbu

May the force be with you!

sweet that helps out alot

one question, where is the connector for the water temp sensor? i woulda already checked to see if it was plugged in if i knew where it was

the upper guide is already off on the new motor

and i grabbed synthetic by accident, my mom needed the car back and i only had 5 minutes to get in and out of the store with the oil, so i just grabbed the first 5 quarts of 10w30 i could find

im gonna do an oil change and oil filter change in about 500 miles though, should i be safe to go back to normal oil?

from what i know, once you go synthetic you cant go back.
and the sensor is on the right of the throtle body arount the uper radiator hose. look for a plug that goes into the many. one is red and one is black. one sends the temp to the ecu and one to the gauge. check em. i know the red one tends to brake the plug, and the black one tends to just brake and you have to fix it.

Exhaust bearing need to be replaced.. Call me for a estimate.

I hear those can be a real bitch to change
