exhaust.......

Speaking in general terms resonators and muffler systems create restriction to the exhaust flow. Any restriction or back pressure in the exhaust system reduces power output. So to reduce sound you are going to decrease performance. One way to decrease sound with minimal restriction is to run two mufflers parallel with each other. That would double the cross sectional area of the exhaust system while providing the silencing of two mufflers.

^run a totally stock exhaust, then add just a GOOD muffler, like a tanabe hyper. quiet and SOME performance, in our stock exhaust besides the piping the only thing thats really restrictive in N/A form is the stock muffler. The resonator nor cat is really restrictive at all, even our stock exhaust manifold has a pretty good design for being cast.
I really wish the megan racing "oe style" exhaust the black on with stainless tips, they dotn make it 2.5 inch, but they dotn come with a resonator at all, but i would add a resonator in the cats place and somewhere in the piping then add a header and your golden.

But im in the same boat as you no one makes a good quiet exhaust its all LOUD. so im staying with stock exhaust with a nice muffler.

get an greddy sp2 i have 2 and a half in piping straight to the sp2 and its quiet and gave me some peformance. its just expensive.{on the corolla though}

i personally thing it's a waste of money. it's a KA.. what's th record for most power in a bolt on ka?
I get to differ, my bolt on ka is making over 170whp, I rape modded 07 civic si's and rsx type s.. I have headers, test pipe, 3inch exhaust timing, no emmisions 11lb flywheel and stage 3 clutch... I used to have a 400whp sr in there but it blew up.. Hell of a downgrade to a ka, but im having lots of fun surprising people with the way it moves

Apexi Nior.

If you don't have a header you won't feel much tho. The most power I have seen out of a NA KA was a Hot Shot Header and 3" Header back.
