Usually that would be true; but, not in this situation.
The gab between the poles is huge. No one even got close to the inside pole.
The problem was the outside pole was lined up with exact line someone would take if they under steered after initiation (the most common time for it to happen). When we showed up and the track owner said the entry straight was not allowed to touch the 100' of new pavement that moved the straight 100' closer to the poles running the middle line of the lot. So instead of initiating far away and sweeping straight threw the middle of them on a long arc, the drivers were pushed closer to them and had to drift threw them at a much shallower angle.
I have no doubt that it would be fun and safer this time. since I have actually been able to drift the parking lots full width before (back when I worked there) and it was dramatically easier than what we pulled off for the FDC qualifier
