Florida Drift Points Series

no you have i cant read disease. WHO IS TALKING ABOUT ME RUNNING EVENTS?? no one. our little thing will be going on DURING not SEPERATE from events. but whatever i give up. everyone is too caught up in other shit to actually sit and read what i wrote. my idea is basically the equivalent of a pick up game of baseball. just boys havin a ball for the score. and yea people like me are the reason florida are labeled fail. last time i checked i go out and participate and have a great time and support the cause. so if people like me bring the label then we all fail. woot woot but w/e

I know you guys have been tossing this about, and I don't know if any NFL guys have kicked in an opinion, but I am sure we would like to join in to help. There are a few of us who have marketing/organization experience here in NFL. I would be willing to lend as much help as possible to any serious party interested in getting this off the gorund.

I think what you're trying to do is great so if you need anything please PM me.

I am sorry you think that, but you are wrong. The moment a event moves from general practice to a point standing type competition irregardless of how trivial you try and chalk it up as there is an increase of insurance. Just an FYI, the only running events in Florida that have the proper insurance are Moroso and OSW. The reason why premiums keep raising is because around the country there are only 2 providers for insurance, who communicate between each other. When their scouts see multiple cars on track, or improper safety conditions, or lack of saftey and support, w/e insurance raises.

Please do not argue with me regarding insurance I know what I am talking about and have done my research. Take it from someone that got real tired of driving an oval and wanted to move to various skid pads, etc and tried to find the best deal. It wont happen.

The only other viable option is for us to petition NASA and US Drift to open achapter in Florida. That way we could fall under thier policy. Only problem with that is, once it is a US Drift sanctioned event, the event holders lose control and other come in to run things. I would gladly step aside for the better of the community but take it how you want to. Some outsider coming in could be a good or bad thing.

Dood dood dood. I'm trying to interpret what MIA and them are saying. We wouldn't need anymore insurance if its just a regular drift event. Don't advertise it as a competition, don't have announcers saying anything about scores. Just a few guys in the stands with notepads jotting down scores. Come back on the forum that day and scores are posted. Simple as that.

correct you are sir

^^ It really is man. Are you saying that if me and 2 other guys showed up at countyline and started jotting down scores for people driving, that the insurance would then go up? Business's would panic? Insurance would rush over and start charging Countyline? Cmon. Theyre not talking about a real series.

Really, let me ask you this. If that is all you initially wanted to do, why the fuck are you even talking about it? Seriously? Is that something that needs to be discussed at all? Stop trying to move forward by taking a step back..

In fact, what is the point if all you are going to do is 'ninja' scores while a practice goes on? That is the stupid shit I have ever heard.

-Josh who thinks there are people in this thread that are set out to do good, have a great idea, then when explained what it would take, got cold feet and pussied out before it was even printed off.

I already said I wouldn't do it that way. This isn't my idea so stop saying "you". I'm trying to get their point across so that you see it's nothing more than what I said above.

once something is mentioned about points especially ONLINE there is already a record of a competition and well its america and as we all know an insurance company will find any way possible to take some extra money out of u .. by the way josh u have a pm... its to much of a risk on the point of an event organizer to have that going on during a practice ... especially if its just for shits and giggles

So your saying people will get kicked out of event's for taking a notepad and scoring drivers? I will test it. I'll go to the next Countyline. You are all being scored by me. Let's see what happens. And I will post the results online.

im not sure about countyline cuz like he said before the insurance may not be the most legit ... but go for it and try it out at like osw were they do things by the book and if the insurance company wants to be an ass and see some what of an organized point scheme was worked out u better belief the track and event coordinators will here about it and if they get boned well my guess is they wont be to happy with u ... its not to that extreme if lets say a few people just sat there and took notes and some points and just talked about it later ... but mia is talking about like getting the drivers involved getting appointed judges and maybe some prizes as bs as it may seem the insurance will more than likely be all over that and it will effect future events ...

Think of it like a group of friends going out to a drift event. And 3 of the friends are scoring for fun. That's what they mean (Again, I wouldn't do it this way, not me). All the prizes and etc could be after events and there wouldnt be an issue (think of it as a bunch of friends just giving presents to eachother or something). I'll do it at every event I goto from now on and post the results here and let's see if insurance companies will waste their time on me and a notepad.

To Josh and MiaS13:

I dont think you guys are reading each other clearly.

Here's the problem with the judges-hiding-in-stands approach: people cant truly compete unless they are AWARE they are competing. If I dont know I am being judged, then what motivation is there to perform my best? And I need to know when to be fully prepared.

The no-pressure part of it is a mute point in my opinion because performing under pressure is part of being a true competitor. Drivers being judged without their knowledge would just be 'classification' or 'qualifying'. But if that many people really like this idea, then STOP TALKING about it, and JUST DO IT. You dont need the approval of anyone on this forum for you to sit in the stands writing scores in the back pages of a geometry book. DO IT and lets hear the 'peoples choice' of Florida.....

Regardless, in the eyes of probably every insurance agency, any sort of situation where drivers are attempting to perform to any degree or standard is probably going to be labeled 'competition'. ANYTHING TO GET MORE $$$ from organizers....

Just like you can be charged with street racing if police decide that you are trying to beat your own goal of getting from A to B faster than XX.XX

So... WELCOME TO HOW LAWYERS DESTROYED OUR COUNTRY.

In the USA there is no such thing as personal accountability. There is always someone with a thicker wallet who can be blamed, and there is always a guy ready to 'SAVE' us by selling insurance and making himself rich.

Ter-Tech is looking into having a Florida champioship series in 09 will propably have 4-5 different tracks so if there is enought intrest we will do it.

finally i have the internet again.

IMO if you have not ever been either driving, running, or organizing compteitions in the past then something of this 'proposed' statewide magnitude is beyond what you think you might know.

i'm not trying to diss anyone's opinion, but stop arguing that its so 'simple' and ninja score people (hahah). if you want to then do it and whatever, but its pointless like josh said. i could from memory give you a 1-3rd place from desoto yesterday, but what good would that be?

and unless desoto repaves its shit, dont go there for anything other than the practices.

If you dont make the format practice, qualifying, bracket competition- then it doesn't reward those who can perform on command and repeatedly.

Its not 'that hard' to run a series, but its 'that hard' to have the event/season setup stuff done right.

i have confidence in harri and if you need my help let me know, I can do something for sure to help get it going.

Harri we need this for sfl drifting to survive, the sport has died out everywhere but here and we need something to change that mindset. We have enough drivers to keep the events full and our drivers are getting better and better. And if someone does make a series than the drivers need to get serious and actually get there cars to a competition level (roll bars-cage fire suit harnesses. I willing to do it as soon as i here go i will get a cage 4sho. IM WILLING TO HELP IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. dO THIS HARRI!!

Like i said before, and I will say it again....put me down in the commitee, I will do anything in my power to help and organize!!!

Harri, do not forget Aero-K, we will be there from start to end
