I'm just gonna post my report from last weekend that I post on the fishing Sites.
8/14 - Took off work early Friday to try and get in some afternoon fishing at the Pocket. Hit the water about 3pm with skies looking menacing, but the rain and storms stayed north and I had pleasant afternoon. Didn't catch much but a Jack and a Trout, and it seems a lot of the bait fish have moved out of the area. Gulp Jerk Shads in the clear water, and topwater in the muddy water has really been paying off the past couple of weeks, but not so much today.
8/15 - Weekend fishing is always a chore, plenty of weekenders on the water screwing up the normal fishing holes, and just means you need to adapt. So Saturday morning Jillian and I set out to put a few more notches in her belt with the reds. As you can see she is just so ecstatic about being up at 5am for fishing!
We also had another Forum member Edlive with us for part of this trip. Ed it was great to meet you, and look forward to fishing with you again. You're brave man fishing out of the yak in those gator infested waters!!
So the day was pretty slow for the most part. The morning brought a few dink trouts, lady fish, and a rat red. We decided to get out of the muddy water of the Banana Creek and into the cleaner water of the IRL. Instantly we start seeing big trout roaming the checkered board flats. I hook up with this trout and I feel the day has begun a turn for the better!
Caught on 5" Nuclear Chicken Gulp Jerk Shad.
Ed took off for home and Jillian and I set up on a drift with the winds from south. We would drift a few hundred yards then set up on some sand holes and soaked some 4" gulp shrimps. As usual this tactic always pays off in the wind when you can't really sight cast to fish. We didn't manage anything to big, mainly under-slot or just barely slot reds.
My first red of the day
Jillians red for the day
My 2nd red of the day
My 3rd red of the day
Another great day on the beautiful IRL!! B)
