8/21 - Friday -
Launched Friday Morning with Jillian, Capt Ed, Mike(BlatAttack), and myself in a spot i'd rather not divulge. It Didn't take long to see that we were on some serious fish. Reds and black drums were tailing and wakeing everywhere, it was one of those mornings you dream about!
Within minutes Ed is hooked up!!
Not 2 minutes after release Eds at it again this time with a nice over slot red. The zoom shad was killing it this morning.
Then Finally it was my turn with this nice 26" Red caught on a New Penny 4" Gulp Shrimp.
Mike(BlatAttack) was late joining us but within minutes of being on the water boated this nice Black Drum on jerk shad.
The bite slowed down a bit and Jillian was just now waking up and starting to fish a bit more aggressively. She started off with this lil Dink Trout
And then she managed this nice slot red on a 4" New Penny Shrimp.
The wind picked up as the sun rose over head, and we began working the areas sand flat which has a nice rise from deep to Shallow with dense grass and lots of food for the reds. We had Black drum tailing everywhere around us but they were ultra picky and all I had was artificials in the tackle box, im sure some dead shrimp would have made for a much better day with the blacks.
We then went back and forth with the slot reds with Jillian boating her biggest red to date a nice 24" fish.
This 24" red beat her up pretty good. I can't wait to get her on something in the 30+ size!
8/22- Saturday
Went back out Saturday but launched later in the morning as I knew better then to try and tangle with the weekend captains. Just really wanted to explore some new territory and find some new fishing holes. The day went by way quicker then I anticipated and the afternoon storms came rolling in. I managed 3 reds and 2 30" ladyfish and enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the IRL. All fish today were caught on Zoom white Jerk Shads.
8/23 - SundayDidn't really plan on heading out Sunday but forced with nothing better to do then Fish, I wasn't gonna try and convince myself otherwise so off I went. Headed back to the same spot as the previous days and decided after all the action I was seeing within 10ft of the shore that I would just work the shore line around the bank. Couple million casts later I managed 3 reds on 5" Gulp jerk Shads. Worn out from the 3 days of fishing, I crawled off the water at sunset as some storms came rolling in. Its such a privilege to get to fish these waters! We are so lucky guys!!!
