Fuel Pump Fuse keeps blowing!

So a couple months ago I put a higher flow fuel pump on my coupe because the stock was on it's way out. It's worked fine until about 2 or 3 days ago when my fuel pump fuse blew (10 AMP). I have gone trough a couple and even gone up to 20 AMP just in case the pump needed some extra juice or some crap but it has blow those too. Car runs fine and out of nowhere it will burn during regular driving. Any ideas?

Mine used to do that too on a stock pump. Then it just randomly stopped happening. I don't know what fixed it honestly.

clean the terminal where you fuel pump connects to the harness. Then examine the wires to be sure none are rubbed raw and grounding out and popping the fuse. The most common reason why we blow fuses is due to wire shorts. Trace the wires up to the ecu and make sure there ok.

check the connections at the pump...
specifically the ground....the pump shares the ground with sender....
also the ground to the oem relay...
if u want it fixed better and faster
REWIRE IT.....

its recommended to run a dedicated power and ground for the pump relay, esp if you have aftermarket/higher demand.

As a wise man once said. "Me Ca Go En La Pu Ta Ma Dre De Los Grounds" That's japanese for thank you gentlemen. Will be checking grounds and wiring this weekend.

Come to think of it, one day I was messing around in there, the ground wire came off the little plug above the pump, and ever since I re-did it, it's been perfect. So check for a bad ground I guess.

Ok, so the last fuel pump was bad probably due to running it with this problem. I now have another working fuel pump in but it's still blowing the fuse now to the point that just priming it will blow. I checked the ECU and it's fine and I'm checking the wires just in case. SR said something about rewiring it and Boxmod said a dedicated ground and live, can someone elaborate a little more? Also, since the fuse is blowing now just by priming, but every once in a while it runs, is there a chance that the ignition switch could have something to do with it?

Just snip the ground wire on top of the pump and ground it to one of the 4 holes on the tan cover in the trunk. I've been running mine like that for a year now with no problems. I Think that's what fixed my problem.

Ok, I'm going to run a dedicated ground. I haven't traced the wire yet but does it go from the pump to the fuse or does it go to the ECU? because I want to run a wire directly and see if the car runs that way I know if there's a short! Does that make sense?

Just when you remove the cover in the trunk, pick out the ground wire in the clump, and ground it to the chassis. Mine was thinning and eventually cut itself so that's when I grounded it to the chassis.

I'm sorry, I meant to say the positive, because I"m trying to bypass the harness to see if it still blows the fuse that way I know if there's a short on the harness!
