getting boosted... and i need help

mmm you people are crazy... i have thought about the small turbo rought but it will be more expensive i believe. either way im not looking for alot of power so i think as long as this and a small turbo are compareible i will go this way just to be different too... also please dont forget if im over looking any parts to make this work.. thanks peeps

i havent gotten called yet to get a price for myself but from what i hear anywere from 100-200 dollars. and im looking at the M62 from the nissan xterria/frointer

mmm well i have not yet priced a turbo kit for the KA so i would not know. i belive that it might be more but not much more. the thing is, is that i feel and have read (how true i dont know?) that the SC route is going to be more relieable and not so harsh on the motor. i could be wrong and someone plese tell me if i am but i feel that this way might be easier to install and a little nicer on the motor and just the place i want to be for power.. i dont know all in all so that is the point of the thread. to see what you guys think if this would be a good thing to do and if i missing anything for the set up.

illida where did your post go... damnit you had some good points!!!!! put it back!

there is a guy in homestead that builds cusotm sc setups for 4-6 cylinders. i was looking into him awhile back when i was thinking of getting a v6 MX-6 :shudders: his website is

http://www.boosthead.com

on the site he doesnt have alot, but if you call him, he'll give you a whole physics lesson on SC's Vs Turbos. :bigthumbu
hope it helps

someone makes the kit that bolts on...its like, $3k or so.. makes just over 200whp, reliable but meh imo. i would much rather be sr powered.

people have been supercharging KA's for a couple years now that i know of, should be able to find something on a bigger forum... if you source out all the stuff yourself it will end up being around the same amount of $ as a turbo setup, there really arent any shortcuts to getting good, well running, reliable power...it costs money, bottom line.

t25 + ebay manifold + sr smic = cheap fast spooling hp

yes but what about all the eltronics stuff? you need a timer and a boost contoller. right?

i can agree with this for sure... it all cost money and you get what you pay for. and that is why i feel that im paying a fair amount of money for something that is good i think. for 2-2.5K can i get a good reliable turbo kit and not worry about my motor taking a dump? thanks

yes i knwo about doing the SR swap, but the problem is, is that i dont know how to do the SR swap!!! the wiring part that is! and to have someone do it is going to be 1K and that will be alllll my money to get my car gooing again.

unless someone whats to do the swap with me and help me... someone who has done the swap before and knows where the wiring for the SR goes and whatnot! hehe

jdm of miami s13 redtop = $1950 full swap
mecca-motorsports redtop swap = $500 or maybe less if negociated with leaving core
parts needed for swap:
Fuel pump = $100
fmic = $200-$400
downpipe = $50

and this is a motor that has infinite aftermarket support and half the miles the ka has with a 30day guarantee

now thats not that bad i didnt know that they did the swap for that much that quote i got was from JG auto or whatever... mmm now im going to have to rethink this seeing that price..

dont get me wrong jg does great work but mecca-motorsports hooks it up man real great ppl and awesome price and service pm mecca motoring or grimez they did my swap wiring and all

i will have to look into that.. for sure im still tossing the 2 ideas though but with these prices this is a little more fesable (spell?) thanks for the info JDM

You don't nesserally need a boost controller ,and turbo timer. If you are running stock boost on the car the wastegate will control it. You can let the car sit and cool down if you can't afford a timer. The whole KA vs SR thing is really all up to you. I can tell you that I sent well over what JDM said for my KA. I bought the full turbonetics kit for $4000, AEM EMS, I got the hook up on, Other stiff the I can keep going on and on , but that's on the altima. The 240sx will be KA-T as soon as we get the bugs workedx out . I won't be spending that much money this time around. The next build up on the 240 will be a beast though.

Well I know I can size a turbo to make 15psi of boost by 3000 rpm and make 400 horsepower at the wheels and still have room to make more power.

Turbochargers will always be more efficient then super chargers, if you do not believe me you need to read a book.

How many factory turbo charged vehicles do you see opposed to factory super charged vehicles? yea turbos win.

who the hell drifts their car under 3500??????? I want my power where im going to use it.

There is a member on here that has a supercharged KA but i don't think he wants ppl to know so i wont say anything other than...240 swaps> Honda swaps!...Honda kids take it in the ass for a swap, the Red Top complete swap installed cost less than a B18C swap without install...for a 170hp N/A motor!
