so whos all going? yes the dragsters are LOUD and i have TWO top fuel pistons at work on display ill take pics of them 2-maro there HUGE.

Trust me, I know how loud they are. I went to the Gatornationals in 2004, and it was the most amazing experience in my life. I've been wanting to go again, but I haven't been able to, because of money. 8,000 hp, 0-60 mph in 0.5 seconds, 4.4 seconds @ 335 mph in the 1/4 mile. It can't get anymore impressive than that.

As for drifting on that track, I wanna go one of these months and tear it up. That track looks very flexible.

^thats for DRAG test and tune days NOT road corse test and tune.....theres two different people that hold those events.

well ill stab someone if its not allowed... im going to anyways. they can boot me if they can catch me

The event wasn't terrible but there are portions of the track that are like 90degree neighborhood streets, very slow to drift. The rules are 3 strikes and you cant drive anymore.
A strike is a) going off course at all, or b) hitting a cone.
With the way they line the course with cones, you will either have to be right in the middle or low angle. I am doubtful if I would do another even on the road course because of the strict rules.

HOWEVER, the owner seems very interested in doing parking lot events. The parking lot is gigantic and will be pretty sweet for course setups. I don't know about the surface/tire wear. The only hurdle we have is to get the drivers, and a tire changer out there. The track is not allowed, per NHRA rules, to have "any mechanical devices use for or by a customer/track user". So the won't ever have it themselves. I did find a place not terribly far from the track that changes for $5 a tire, but can do anything over 16s.

I think this could be a GREAT venue and many events and competitions (owner wants to have competitions). Sucks that its north florida, but better than another oval

^ditto, dont know if ill ever do another drift event there but for grip driving its not that bad the 1st course layout was terrible for drifting but the 2nd was better but still alot of hairpin turns.

agreed 100%

also, two other things that kinda bugged me was 1. no passengers allowed, and 2. no photographers allowed on the infield at all, the closest they could get was where i shot the video below from. When we run autocross courses up there, there are course workers and photographers all over the whole course, far enough away from the track of course so they wont be in any danger.. but still...

here's video of boxmod and mikespeed followed by a few pictures. I only photographed for about 5 minutes so i missed a bunch of people.

Gainesville T&T

Hi, I am the GIR employee that has been spreading the word on these events. Sorry it took me so long to post on your forum. I was asked to put this info out here by a member. Hope to see you guys on the track. I love to meet drifters and hang out like everyone else. I do have the blue 86 coupe, but you can see me in other cars depending on the type of event (grip or drift). Feel free to say hello, I can be seen in: Taka's AE86 drift coupe full suspension and itb's w/ street tuned Formula atlantic spec Hi comp AE92 motor, clean and stock ae86 red hatch, BMW e30 325ix, 85' crx its #55 and runs on 71/2" slicks, 91' FC rx7 red, 04' ser spec-v red, or a red 04' MINI. BTW, they are all for sale for the right price, just pm me if your interested. Anyways, back to business, be sure to say hello.

Sorry, Due to Gator Nationals and AHDRA events March did not have an available weekend for the T-n-T. The next event will be on Apr. 14th.

P.S. If anyone is interested in renting our parkinglot for private drift events, pm me with your info and I'll call you.
The limitations are:
Cars must pass same tech insp. we use at the road course.
Helmets must be used
Events will be on Sundays
Cost starts $1500 and includes GIR rep, EMT workers, and event insurance
Times are flexible but events will last 6 to 8hrs
Attendence is max. 30 cars.

So, you could set up a 8hr. drift clinic and split the parking lot up into a few different obstacle set-ups and have a few small drift groups in rotation. Or, you could set up one large drift course at the end of the day. The options are endless as long as we pre-approve what you want to do. You get to split the cost 30 ways. Or, that means $50 for an all day private drift event for 30 people or $100 for 15 cars. Just remember to let me know well in advance so we can get your course set-up approved.

See what happense when you guys come out in numbers to represent drifting. Thanks!!! to everyone that came to the Feb 10 Test-n-Tune. You guys earned this rental package thats now available.
