GT30 help.

I have a GT30 bb with a .70 compressor and a .86 turbine on my S13 SR blacktop.

Is there any way to replace just the oil seals? i made the mistake of not putting an oil restrictor on to the oil inlet line and blew the seals. the turbo literally has about an hour of run time on it. any help?

I don't think you can rebuild a ball bearing turbo? Only a hour of run time HUH......stay away from all guns! You wanna sell it???

yeah ive heard that you cant and have to get a completely new CHRA. but i only need oil seals.

oh and im not sure if its a real garrett? what is one way to tell the difference? the compressor housing has been smoothed off so it doesn't say garrett or anything.

You can rebuild those turbo's all you can is replace the center cartridge which is over 800 bucks if i remember correctly.. Call Garret tomorrow.

i found one from http://blaastperformance.com/index.php and its $569. so oil seals are out of the question.

but the thing is that i dont know if its a real garrett. ill post some pics in a min.

well i have to do it on a budget. i bought it for $600 and it was never used. it had just been handed down by two people.

i also cant find a serial number. all i found was this crazy looking A.

the guy i bought the turbo from said that he bought the turbo from a local guy who bought it from enjuku and told me that it was rebuilt by enjuku. well i asked enjuku and i found out that they dont do rebuilds. you cant tell by my pictures but the exhaust looked just like this one off of the enjuku website

none of the garrett trims match the one on mine.

if there is that white paint on the blades your gonna need a new cartridge. garret uses that shit to signify bb.

that one above me aint no bb. thats a regular bushing turbo that can be rebuilt. and the pics are of 2 diff turbos.

That turbo would suck so much ass on a 2ltr sr - consider a new alternative entirely IMO.

honestly i bought the turbo from my buddy cuz he was sitting on it for a while and he needed money so i bought it. it was $600 so i didnt think it was a bad deal. he was going to put it on his s14 sr and the guy who he bought it from was going to put it on his built up sr. both of them ended up selling their cars and never even used it.

now i was told that it was a ball bearing. and it did have the white paint on the fins. ill be honest and say that i do not know much about the turbo. im not even sure if its a real garrett. that is why i should seek help from the all knowing sfldrifters. btw ive always owned a 5 speed turbo car since i was 16. i just dont know much about turbo trim sizes and a/r but im always reading up on it. so plz bear with my noobish questions.

Your best bet is to get the chra number and call garrett.

but if its a gt3071r like i think it is, its already a bad mismatch being the t2 variant. With a .86 a/r turbine housing, the spool and transient response would be terrible considering the output. I would just try to sell the good parts and buy better turbo.
