Headgasket.??

My water pump went out in my blacktop SR. motor overheated, but i didnt think it was that bad. changed the water pump, and ever since, it will run fine driving around 20 minutes or so, then the temp gauge creeps. no coolant leaks anywhere, but the coolant level is low. checked the oil and it IS a little milky. when we did the rebuild, we used a felpro headgasket. i have pulled the head to change the headgasket, because it is what the process of elimination pointed to. my question is, do you think the felpro was my mistake, should i go with a cometic this time.?? any other options.??

I would have the head brought to a machine shop and checked to make sure it didn't warp. I would just play it safe and get a cosworth gasket - cometic is a mistake.

cometic gaskets suck but like tony said get the head checked and use a metal head gasket thats not a cometic

machine shop said the stock HG blew between a oil and coolant port near #4. also ended up needing a valve job. the exhaust valves were "touliped"(warped) and not seating right. $190 plus the price of valve seals and its getting re conditioned(decked, hot tanked, valve job). the local speed shop cant get cosworth HG's, so i ended up going with the cometic, but it should be back together sometime this weekend. Thanks for all the help guys.
