As most of us are from Sfl, we all know first hand how bad they have it. So im thinking we pull anything we can together into one large sum and donate it to a charity for this disaster on behalf of SFLdrifters. Anyone, admin, mods?

If anyone is seriously interested, I could try to get ahold of the Herald for some publicity.

that would be good, i guess I could try to donate something...it would be good for the sfldrifters reputation as well!!

Lets get the ball moving on this. Im thinking like this, I just spent $600 on rims....RIMS! Its something I don't need. These people NEED help badly. So im up to donate, but there is strength in numbers. So let make a group effort and get this going. Maybe get a compition going between other S. Florida forums to see who can raise the most money?

Yes, it will show anyone that sees the effort that were not just a bunch of punks, but that shouldn't be a reason for doing this. However it is a perk.

you guys ever think about hosting a charity event too? maybe you could talk to some companys like the herald, FPL, McDonalds and few other companies that are always hosting events and throw out an idea about hosting a drift event to raise money for people who lost there homes n such because of the hurricane...another organization that you should get in contact with is the Red Cross...talk to a few companies and maybe some around the way and then talk to an owner of some land, maybe perry airport and they could host the event there...an event for you guys to slide, big crowd turnout because you know that if you get companies to back you up there going to be putting this up everywhere...maybe get in contact with a few radiostations such as power96, 99jams, 103.5 the beat, 93.1 rock to spread the word...just throwing out some ideas, if you guys need any help I can try as much as I can from up here!

An event would be a great idea, you get to slide for free and help the hurricane victims. Maybe someone talk to Ter-tech? I say we get Kateri and her friends to do a car wash :)
Anyone that is on other Sfl forums get on it and see about maybe a car show included with a dirft event???

I could talk to a local car club down here thats always making big events up north, maybe the owner will have some good ideas on how to go about it.

We have 229 members, if everyone sends in $20 thats roughly $4,500. Thats alot of food and water.

But will all 200+ members chip in. I have already donated, but will be glad to donate again if we set something up.

Im in, just imagine how the car tuners out there feel seeing their pride and joy sinking in a lake of water... wtf and that cant even be compare to the family's without homes now. - All i'm saying, we take too much stuff for granted.

I would def. chip in. My heart goes out to those people. The conditions are terrible. I would bawl if all my stuff was submerged underwater like that.
I think an event is an amazing idea. I could arrange for a car show too...and maybe it be like $2 admission or something to go to charity. I know a couple forums and car clubs that have sick cars and would def. join in on this. I could also talk to suaknee about selling his apparel there and giving a percentage of it to charity. I want to get my shop into this as well, but Im not sure how that could happen, bcuz im thinking who the hell is gonna bring $700 on hand to buy a turbo? Not many people. I could also see if my job wants to be a part of it (Lexus of Pembroke Pines). Sounds like an amazing idea. Let me know what you guys think.

i would donate but i have like $50 to live on right now, But i'll donate the Hellica put it up for autcion at the event and the prceeds (all $5) will go to charity

i dunno yet but I made this for you guys, you can add to it as you please...if its ok with you guys, bladder and the other mods then ill start emailing this in the masses to companies in the south florida area ...also if you do email it change the email address on there to yours...

Hello (insert here),

Well im going to keep this short and simple because im sure that you are very busy but in recent events you may have noticed the devastation and destruction that Hurricane Katrina has been bringing to the Midwest. We would like to extend an invitation to your organization and many others to host a Charity event to raise money for this worthy cause. We are a small group of friends who are passionate on the new automobile sport of drifting. An idea that we have raised is to host a charity drift event for this cause. We will all gladly put up a show for the South Florida area and are happy to donate all money raised to the Red Cross or any other charity that is helping in the cause! Please dont waste a moment by letting these people go through all this suffering. If you are interested please contact myself at Michaelquin928@aol.com or the host of the SFLDrifters community at (insert admin email here)

Sincerely,
members of SFLDrifters.com

Its great seeing people wanting to help others out. Its horrible what happen there. The whole area is underwater, the Mayor fears thousands are dead, and there are plenty of stories I heard about that made me depressed for hours. This a great idea, hope everything works out. These people need all the help they can get.

I can post this up on is300.net, jdmuniverse.com, access-jdm.com, and idk where else. We need to have a complete and organized plan in order for me to post this. Bcuz i cant just ramble on about doing something. We need to get our ideas together.

Great point Altezza, but how? Create a temporary forum just for that? I just tryed to call the red cross for info on how to get this moving....I found dead ends, and I know all they are looking for is money, but How much would a couple of car shows or drift events pull together? Does the admin have a paypal account that we just as SFL can start to pay into to have it sent to the red cross on the behalf of the members of Sfldrifters.com?

yeah thats only a couple of days awya so as selfish as it sounds we have to focus on that
