$300 Huh! I say buy yourself some tracktime. Its probably the most beneficial investmant you could make. If your dead set on suspension though why not get a ride with people who have either a coilover setup or spring/shock combo and see what peaks your interest more that way you don't invest in something your not gonna benefit from. LSD is a smart way to go too, and Dan won't give you a busted one, he's good peeps.

um well im pretty sure im one of the few on this website with a scca race license... and have actually roadraced at several tracks, not just chin events or auto x crap. So, yes shocks and springs are cool if you have to run them such as a spec class or a class that does not allow threaded shock bodies aka coilovers. But a proper coilover set up has much more adjustability then a spring shock combo. So you can corner weight and set up for the ultimate suspension rig. Now you can get shocks revalved and different spring rates, but you can also do this with a threaded shock body also.

Now there are coilover sleeves availible in w.e spring rates you please, but unless you shocks are valved for your set up you will destroy you shocks and not have the correct damper and rebound. Also this is not part of the shock body so sag and also sleeve lift will happed under hard cornering, aka drifting.

For drifting, a coilover set up is a must for anyone wanting to be able to adjust to different tracks and or fine tune their suspension set up. But if you just want to lower your car and stiffen it up a bit, a shock combo is for you.

i bought a vlsd with axles plus q45 calipers and rotors and also ive decided on saving up 4 coilovers i figure ima trust my sources and guy up dere ^^^ thanks for the advice its good to know that the ones who know what dere talkin about help new guys like me. i havent had the funds to experiment with my car that much so thanks for the advice

I never had any problems running coilover sleeves on my Buzz Specs while drifting. That setup is going on 3.5 years old and still works great (on a buddy of mine's car). 450lb/in front springs and 350lb/in rears - Ground Control. But for the most part I agree with you - coilovers are the easy and sensable way to go.
