I Hate Understeer

stiffer rear sway bar encourages understeer.

get suspension (coilovers, springs+shocks, w/e. T/C rods)
grippy front tires (good choice = Dunlop FM901, Hankook Ventius RS-2)

try not to go into a turn full throttle at full angle lol.. use weight transfer, don't turn more than 1 rotation max into the corner at entry. use the e-brake. practice throttle entry, off gas, turn, on gas etc.

if you want help, i can help you one day

I have cusco coilovers....but I think it might be those damn crappy tires I have up front....thanks...

....and this damn SOHC KA isnt helping in the power department either.

WTF? no it does not... it helps make it so the rear suspension is stiffer then the front = oversteer...

ever driven with a stiffer rear sway bar for drift? :bigthumbu

I've driven with a super hicas rear sway bar and the pdm adjustable rear sway bar and both promote understeer (which is good for high speed drift if you know wtf you are doing). now, if you have the proper camber adjustments up front, the rear sway bar will probably help a little bit. it's definately a worth while mod for any car though. but it doesnt eliminate any understeer... body roll yes though, and it makes the rear more stable when it slides out

danny as much as i hate to say it kenrik is right.

rollordie dude get rear toe rods, set up your car with one degree of toe out, that will iliminate the understeer, but as you get better i recomend going back to 0 toe.

get camber plates..... i have always had camber plates on all my 180sx and silvias and never had a prob with understeer....

Swaybars effectively increase spring rates. Increasing rear spring rates would decrease understeer. Kenrik is right. And yes I have drifted on a Hicas bar (i learned on one), suspension techniques (what I have now), stock bars, and other combos.

what can I do to lower the amount or even eliminate the amount of understeer?

I have an 89 coupe BTW.

Not being a **** but chances are it's your driving that's causing your understeer. When are you experiencing it...corner entry, right? You signed up for any drift events?

and you didn't adjust your front camber any?

if you brake while you are cornering you can shift the weight of your car to naturally want to turn in. or you can trail break (it's feels like you're pulling the ebrake only using the foot brake).

smoooooth haaaands, sometimes understeer is related to driver input to the steering wheel.

yeah its useally the driver, I say keep useing the crap tires and learn to work around them then get good tires

yeah cause you can still under like a ***** even with lots of good rubber on the front ex: Kenrik
