I = Suck at Life

So I took the track car for a test drive... everything seemed to be going great untill after about five minutes of driving the car just dies... I was like WTF>? I coast and am able to pull off into a parking lot (thank god it was there) and the car is just dead.. it cranks but no go.. I get some gas and put it in and the car starts up but I can tell something is wrong... so I shut it off... I see a puddle off liquid comming from the engine and I'm like WTF?!! I open the hood and to my horror the gas line completely broke off and had been spraying gas ALL over the engine and alternator... I'm one lucky SOB because right about now I could be a Crispy Critter... I cut the line reclamped it and was able to drive home (after I let the gas on the engine evaporate..) car is now parked and tomorrow comes the task of replacing all of the rubber fuel lines :mad:

Alternator = source of sparks and could have easily blown my *** sky high...

It would take a mighty spark to ignite. Prolly would of cought on fire from the heat. Still though, fire is fire. And fire on your motor is bad. Good thing you are smart and didnt keep running it :-D

that sucks man......ive had my fuel lines leak all over my sr harness and fuse box befor and nevr knew it til 3 days later..i was def n yur shoes

Glad you are alright. Anyway, it takes a spark or some sort of fire to cause a fire. Heat alone won't start it. I've seen gas just fall onto a hot exhaust manifold, it would just evaporate. So, gladly your alternator set it off.

you reused the origional fuel lines? what else did you expect? it wouldnt have added more then 4 dollars to one of the many trips to the autoparts store to get some 5\16ths w\ the proper fuel clamps.
