So im having a conversation with my friend. Hes a muscle enthusiast but says he knows how to drift. Logn story short he busts out with imo the dumbest remark. ive thought this through for a while and it didnt make sense. His exact quote is...."drag racing takes more driving skill and mathmatical skill than drifting...." He said from the driver standpoint. I almost launched over the couch to drop kick him. Let me know if im wrong for acting like this and i want opinions on his comment cuz im sure people have something to say about this
 
I had a big argument about this on FSS, i say just bite your tongue its not worth it, they will never fully agree with you
 
it only depends on what you are launching, lanch a civic with bolt ons and the argument is null and void.

Jump in REAL drag car and its a different story. It takes alot of driver to control a real drag car, but then again that same skill has to be applied to even the lowest HP drift car.
 
consistent, fast drag racers are good drivers no doubt...

someone who can throw a car sideways in 3rd gear, stay pretty much full throttle, while hitting clips/apex's while linking corners...

fucking gankstur.

apples and oranges, no comparison.

typical drag race:

hold gas
dump clutch
mash gas
shift at correct rpm
hold wheel straight
keep gas mashed
shift
apply brakes.

drag racing is utturly drab and vapid, i dont know how many civic guys i know that swear by drag/street racing, its seriously uninteresting, i stopped watching pinks 30 second into the show. anything about drifting even if its a news coverage i stay up to watch.
 
^^^nah not really, i have nothing againsts muscle heads, my dads one and i grew up loving camaros and supras but drag racing is plain boring and uneventfull for me. Drifting for me takes more skill. He just keeps at it and says hes done it in his v8 camaro he used to have and i keep saying he fucking didnt for one sole reason....ITS A FUCKING AUTOMATIC.
 
both motorsports require tons of skill... you say drag racing is boring.. well many people think drifting is boring and makes them dizzy.. you cant say one is this and the other is that. its all opinion. i think both rock.

oh, and you can drift an automatic camaro. ask me how i know ;)
 
lol... i have an automatic camaro.. tons of mods.. automatic.. plus a stock stall (sadly) and it gets sideways pretty nicely (and doesnt spin out) lol
 
I dont argue with ignorant people. it gets me no where and I am not going to change the way they think. Ive met people who said sure I cant slide around a corner in my mustang too, and then ive also met some people who have said, damn thats not so easy.

It just depends on who has their mind open to the idea and who can appreciate it.
 
i like all sports that have to do with motors..... drift,drag,motogp,rock climbing trucks, motocross, indy. you get the point i dont try to argue weather one is better than another, i bet of the drivers from one of these sports couldnt get into another one of the others cars or whatever and do it as good as them.

btw i do hate nascar. now that is boring.

dude...take it from another camaro guy...that is not called drifting...i believe the proper term for it is fishtail.

drifting a muscle car is HARDER IMO thenan s-chassis or 86. reason being that there is much more mass to throw around, and much more power makes it easier to spin out. when i drifted my camaro, i used almost ZERO gas...all weight shifts. adding even a little gas made me spin like nothing. if your using an automatic...its all fishtails.
 
^^^ good point but i havent seen a video or in real life infront of my eyes so i cant say but i know for a fact this kid has not drifted this camaro
