I want to test the bass on my sub

if your lights are dimming plus if the rpms are jumping it means there is an excessive strain on the altenator. Sometimes the amp itself is the problem. My mono block amp did it and I swapped it out with another and it stopped. BUt you probably know all this and the consequences of what will happen if you leave it like that
 
i say get a cap and see wut happens.......i jus got a stronger battery in my old car and the dimming stopped.....
 
would it hit harder with a capacitor? I mean from what I understand it just stores power for when the amp needs more power than per usual
