if you have a PC

im pretty sure someone who has building computers from scratch for the past 15 years knows how to remove a virus, and work around it.

Not true. Virus removal is almost an art these days. It takes practice, patience, and perseverance. If you're tech guy said the virus is "smart" b/c he couldn't figure it out, then he was trying to protect his ego. There are no smart viruses. I run an IT department at a school (if you didn't know) and deal with heavily infected computers almost daily (all forms of malware) and although I'll sometimes recommend a reinstall before I waste days cleaning a machine thoroughly, the option to seek and destroy is there.

One thing nobody mentioned here - an easy way to spread some viruses is by using other people's thumb drives (USB drives). The passing around of thumb drives is very popular today. If you're ever putting a thumb drive in your computer, hold the shift key until its done loading to prevent any programs from automatically executing. I have seen a lot of viruses spread this way.

As for Avast - its not terrible, but its not great either. I'm partial to Kaspersky but really, i don't use anti-virus at all on my home computer and i have not had 1 infection over the last 10+ years of using PC's. It is all a matter of what your browsing and user habits are. Sucks but its true. For most users, I'd say a Mac is a better choice b/c of this. They are definitely not impervious to malware (subscribe to the zdnet newsletter if you're doubful) but like someone else mentioned, the majority of malware is not written to infect Macs. I don't see that changing anytime soon either.

i like this guy.

you are right, that tech guy dosnt really know how to remove viruses, even with his 15 years of "building experience"

mac would only be a better choice if you are like the OP, not a power user.

trust me, my school runs an entire LAN with 100+ computers, when some jackass brought KAvo piggied along with Maplestory, HOOOOLLLLYSHIYT!

none of the techs knew how to remove it, it even got into their image restore files. lol

all im saying is it does not matter what system u use, mac, pc linux, if you dont know what u are doing, someone/thing, out there will rape ur machine.

newfag much?

dont you guys read? it hijacks your firewall and Antivirus making a fake infection, so your AV and FW are offline, thus it avoids being detected, plus it piggibacks opther trojans into ur system,

go to safe mode and do what i posted, dont be like Threadstarted and altF4

You're Bryant's friend? The BJ's next to Long Johns and all that shit?

Fuuuuu!!!!! I just got this damn virus!! It crashed my adaware. And my spyware doctor ive deleted like 4 Trojans with spyware terminator but my pc still infected! It won't let me go on any website and it keeps creating random exe software like NSA.exe b.exe and rundll32.exe won't close.I'm getting All my files in an external hard drive while I deal with this but I'm scared it will leak in there too. Is there any way to get rid of it manually ? O can't download anything! Please help. I can't afford to loose all mi cake!!!!

If portions of the virus are accidentally stored in a ext hdd that's no problem since it needs an OS environment to function - it can easily be scanned/cleaned.

^what he said, once you get it cleaned out scan your external drive too before you go opening any files or transfering it back. btw i love malwarebyte anti-malware shit detects it everytime. if you've got a flash drive dl that and the latest update file on a good comp then you can install it on your bad comp.

How long have you had this virus?
The longer you have had it the worse it gets, since it opens up backdoors for other bad applications to piggy back.

This is what I did to remove it, but take note, this virus( after a while) is almost impossible to remove entirely( not to mention no guarantee that your system is not still somehow infected)

I cant quarante that your systems will be like new, this is probably only going to help u recover your important files, and then nuke the OS from space.

first of all go to another PC and download these application, and put them on a Flash drive.

Hijack This

Malwarebytes anti malware (MBAM)

Spybot search and destroy

SDfix

Combofix

----------------------------------------------------------------------
FIRST OF ALL DISCONNECT THE INFECTED PC FROM THE INTERNET! if you havent already done so.
this is to prevent anything from being infected again or downloaded. This is how this virus fuck ppl in the ass.

1. Boot into safe mode, and Run Hijack this. Save the Text file it provides you on the flash drive.

2. using that drive, go to another PC, and FIRST SCAN IT WITH YOUR ANTIVIRUS!!! then go to google and type " hijack this analyzer"

3. Copy/ paste the text from your flash drive to the text field on the website.

4. After it precesses the text, it will give you the files to be deleted( usually marked in red) ( note that some of these will be bad/damaged registry entries) Either print this list, or write down the numbers that you must delete.

5. Go back to your infected PC, and select for deletion the files the Online analysis depicted as infected or dangerous files.

( note, when i had to remove this bastard, it was in a hidden file folder in your root / application data folder. one way to check is to right click on the actual icon it creates on your desktop, and going to properties, there it will show u the hidden target folder, if i remember correctly the root virus program is called something like this 3319932.exe

6. RUN MBAM and do a long scan
Once you do this, BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA INTO A SEPARATE HARDDRIVE OR FLASH DRIVE, IN SAFE MODE!!!!

these steps are if you want to TRY to bring back ur system in working order,
I would nuke the OS, just cause this virus likes to fuck ALOT with the registry, and thus your PC might still be infected. Again, depending on how long you have had it in your system.

7. Boot into windows normally, and Run Hijack this, again, following the same steps above.

8. Install MBAM, and Run long scan.

( NOTE: these 2 following programs do have the potential to fuck up your OS, cause they delete ANYTHING! that shows infection( this includes system files like system32 ,or explorer.exe so be careful)

9. Run Combo Fix.( will restart ur machine several times just be patient)

10. Run SDFIX

If you are faint of heart to attempt this, take it to tiger or best buy, where they will tell u to nuke the bitch OS from space, and forget about your files.
Ohh and they will also rape ur walled in the process.

Enjoy your virus.:bigthumbu

GL- let me know if you want me to Email you any of these programs in case you cant find em.
