KA problem...really weird..dunno what it is

Ok so yesterday i drive the car with my brother im in third i step on it, and it revs to 4k and starts to bog so i shift to fourth and it does the same shyt. So i get home and we check the time and it was too advanced so we brought it down back to stock. And it started to run better. Only thing was that at idle if i tap on the accelerator to quick or too much i bogs and shakes for a second then the revs go up. Now i was coming home from school and the car doesnt wanna get over 4300rpms it just cant for some reason. So now its doing what it was doing before and the idle thing that its started to do. What could be the problem. Spark plugs are new, oil was changed recently, and the engine is really clean. Only thing i can think of is the exhaust, i have it open pretty much. Its the header, gutted cat, resonator, and no tip. But i ordered one already, but i still dont know if that is the problem.
 
When you checked the timing did you diconnect the TPS sensor, warm up the engine and let it idle at 7-800rpms? If its not at those rpms then adjust the idle screw, then adjust the timing to 20 Degrees, if that dose not solve the problem, Check your Mass Air Flow Sensor, Check your coolant temperature sensor.

I'm 90% sure its your Mass Air Flow Sensor though.

Maybe check engine will go off soon! Hook it up to a computer maybe it will throw back what the problem is.

Yes the tps was tooken off. My brother says its most probably the fuel pump. I think so to cuz somewhat of the same thing happened with his g/fs s13. Timing is stock and perfect we did it right, and the MAF is clean and SHOULD be working right, the car only has 104k miles.
 
lol what if it WAS the fuel pump. I just drove it again and jumped on the throttle and it would bog but if i slowly step on it, like just calm pedal to the metal lol, it seems to go. Its as if the fuel pump is pumping at one rate and when i floor it it doesnt pump enough.
 
if ur definetly shure that ur maf is good, for what u explain; check ur fuel pump either is going bad or the lil strainer bag in it is clogged. before going to the fuel pump have u think/checked off ur fuel filter....

ok thats good, so go ahead and check ur fuel pump, we have the same problem with a friends of mine 240 and it was the that the fuel pump strainer thing was clogged. so like i said either clogged or going bad, if we r talking about the same problem(which it sounds 90% the same):cool:
 
make sure you dont have any lose grounds. Your fuel pump dosn't usualy do that it usualy either works or fails. Sounds like your timing is off or your MAF died. If you know somebody with a good running s13 hook up there maf and see if that changes anything.
 
Yea ive had timing problems. But we broguht it down to stock and it runs somewhat better, but i have a feeling its that fuel pump. Im just gonna replace it screw it.
 
My car was doing this when i first got it but once it was fully warmed up it wouldn't bog when u got on the throttle. I did an intake on my car and it doesn't bog at all anymore, but the car still feels underpowered.

Going to see if i can get work on the car over the wkend.
 
Ok so I clean the IAC or w/e and cleaned the MAF. Ran awesome. It would still bog a bit when i jump on the throttle from idle, but would rev high nice and quik and normal. Until tonight when i went to the triangle with a few buddies to take pics.( take pics not drift) well on the way over its started acting weird like again boggin and way out of timing or something, and i went to the gas station past the triangle put a fuel system cleaner and filled it up. Got to the triangle still ran poopy. My friends ended up having all the fun. It was so embarrasing. Ok so i went and left one of them home, and it turned off, while i was in reverse moving normally. It would go down to zero but the engine would still spin as if everything stopped working but the pistons kept spinning. My brother says i might have water in the engine. I hope not.

Nobody has an idea of what it could be? C'MON im going psycho over here i need some help lol before i blow GPOS up!


(GPOS is a term i gave the coupe, it means glittery piece of shyt)

Ok just finished running it, and it runs a little better, it didnt shut off on me. Idle is kinda over...over 1k rpms but still runs better. I floor it and it bogs just a bit but has no pick up as if somethine was holding it back. I dunno what it could be, im all out of ideas.
