ka--t 240 ? guys

do u guys think i should rebuild the head and put a cometic head gasket if im trying to push 400hp turbo or will stock (meaning stock head bolts , felpro gasket) hold this power . and can a cometic be reused? thanks
 
if you got the money to rebuilt do it. idk if you remember that motor i bought from you a couple months ago, now is boosted lol but ima rebuilt the head before anything blows.
 
i would rebuild the whole motor not just the head if you want to make that much power and dont use cometic gaskets they suck unless you deck the head and block the shit has to be perfect for it to seal. i would def replace the bearings and piston rings.
 
lol teamsr u r one lucky basterd !!! i sold u that motor to cheap lol i u sould see the crap i bought for 200 missing every freakin thing btw i blew my motor . melted piston again :mad: i guess ill rebuild in all i hope i could use my eagle rods with stock pistons

if your compression is good don't worry about a rebuild

Build bottom end(forged pistons and rods, could balance the crank too) and have the head rebuilt but if you planned on pushing over 500, then you should build the head too.

Theres a guy who sells forged bottom end kits on ka-t.org.

If you dont mind me asking, whats your setup?

Yeah you can build but I also wann know the setup
please don't tell me a eBay kit with a afc cuase if so don't worry about anything in the motor cause the kits not good for it plus the turbo will blow was before the motor will
400 is not that hard to make with the right setup and you don't need forged but u can run forged if you got the cash
ka rods hold up really well

head flows good with s14 upper manifold and exhaust cams 14psi+/-
ka heads must be decked and remember to take the front cover attached so they grind them together
ive had a couple of ka-t over the years , once you get over 350hp car becomes annoying in trafic and daily driving
currently i'm running stock rods ,cp pistons 9:1 cometik HG sprayed with gasket sealer (a must with these) and complete stock s14 head,

all with apexi afc so i'm upgrading the ecu soon cause my air fuel ratios are all over the place

Your only making 234 on 12psi seems a little low
you deff need a real tune

I'm making around 350- 370 on 18psi stock internals rebuilt head with a .50 turbo t/3 t/4 and it's my daily I never had a problem
till my waterpump went out that's with headgasket and studs
 
what you should do is stop wasting your money and buy an RB or SR for the same price

You can't do a legit rb swap for anywhere near a ka-t setup
and ka-t have a bad rep but I would never own a sr myself there way over rated
 
actualy before i started with ka-t shit rb's and sr's where un reliable due to lack of info on them , shitty wireing shabby importers, most people i know would need to rebuild there sr's anyway..... then wait month for parts,
sr's are good till 14/16 psi then you need to dump money into them, rb's also same shit
pro's of rb's are the reliability at higher HP... 600hp is expensive but reliable
sr's 600hp expensive but not as streetable
ka's 600hp cheaper in a way but now more attainable than sr parts

i wouldnt be leaving stock any-damn-thang for >400hp on a 1xx,xxx mileage KA...build it right the first time...

but thats just me.

Well mine was rebuilt just with oem parts my ka-t is not a throw toghter look at my build threads clean and legit

oh yeah, and good luck finding another headgasket other than cometic or stock for a KA.
