Ka-t Vs Sr??? Help me choose

So ive decided that at the end of the year ima boost my car since ill be receiving some money. Ive been doing some research and i still cant make up my mind to whether i wanna do a dual cam kat or sr20. My pre determined limit is $3000. So i would like to hear what some of you sr20 and ka-t drivers think, suggest, and/or prefer
 
if u only have 3k to spend go SR, ka will just give u problems, if u had more moeny to spend like 5-6k i would say go KA-T

Depending on your money, buy an SR if your broke. KA can hardly handle its stock 150 hp...I shattered my number 1 connecting rod on my KA.

exactly i would never go ka-t unless i was doing some internal work to it first ur best bet is SR u will be happy with it or u can always go rb25

and has been beating to shit.

btw get rid of that 4x4 status first then motor..this kat vs. sr thing is coverd many many times please search and read..not only here try nico or zilvia or w.e other nissan site there is..

i have been researching. i read the archive thread, ive gone on ka-t google and everything. Im just debating on what to do. Ive heard good and bad from both. Thats why im asking the owners to see what they think. It would be nice o talk to someone who has done them both and see what there opinion is. But since ima have to throw in a new motor anyways im leaning toward the sr

that will also be taken care of Roly. $3000 is going to motor and im think $1000 will go to suspension.

yes paul im askin the #1 question of nissans other than the rb vs 2jz. and i have done research. Ive heard both good and bad and i have been putting prices together to see what will work out. and so what if im a noob. everybody is a noob at something. Ive been in a sr20 but never a ka-t so thats why im debating and no amount of reading will never inform me as much as actually experiencing the two thats why im would like to see if someone has done both on here or some other forums. and go ahead talk all the shit you want cause i will still be posting threads once your done

first thing u need to do is finish ur 5 speed swap!

if you have that much money fix up the rest of your car, i spent well into 13+ thousand fixing up my car replaceing everything with new shit rebuilding the motor replacing all the suspension compontents (cause 1000 for coils alone isnt all that you should replacing) seats, bla bla bla.... and im not even on boost yet. the power is the last thing that your going to need, especally since you have already recked your car once... you got lucky it wasnt bad but yeah you dont need that shit.

and for real man.... fucking search... gezze, dont be shocked if this gets locked hard
 
man research and come to a conclusion on your own and dont rely on ppl's opinion because everyone has something different to say so as i stated research and YOU decide what YOU want

well thats true and i have been taking such things into consideration, like diffs, tie rods, rucas, safety equipment, etc. and as for the wreck all that did was break a flca and tension rod. Thats been replaced with oem lca and aftermarket tension rods

well i had came to the original conclusion of ka-t but once money came into play i found that i would be spending close to 3k which could easily do a sr swap. then i looked into the sr. Then thats when this debate started to come into play. Like ive heard of ka's blowing headgaskets and ive heard of sr's doing the same. And ive heard of ppl arguing that the ka is better for drifting for its low end torque but the sr for being able to withstand high revs. Low end torque would be nice but i have a lead foot and a slow left foot. So its a hard battle for me. Also i was looking to change it up and not do sr cause it seems like nowadays everybody has an sr. but i guess its time to call for a lock of this thread since help here doesnt seem possible

just stay ka, if not then dont worry about the 5 spd swap untill the sr.

yea i no that part no sense in wasting more money on the tranny swap for a ka if i do sr
