KA24 Datsun

Wussup guys. I've been looking all over the place for a s13 shell, but i've recently come across a family friend with a 280z. I friggin love those things and i may be able to get it for a very low price if not free, but the motor is shot to hell. I've seen KA's swapped into them, and i have one sitting here ready to go. I just don't know if it'd be worth the trouble, when i can drop it in a 240sx and call it a day. So i guess when it comes down to it, its the ease of the swap vs the coolness of the other car. Any input?
 
A want a ride with potential, but with keeping dependability. i understand that if i wanted to build a more drift oriented machine then obviously i would just get an s13, drop in the motor and call it a day. I'm not even really considering the racing/drifting aspect of it. I just know that my daily atm is a P.O.S. (thats what i get for owning a pontiac -_-) and i need to get something else going before anything else goes wrong with it. Money isn't something that i have a lot of, so im just trying to get some ideas going before i make a wrong move and end up with a never ending money pit.
 
Ddont pay any attention to him. He doesnt give a fuck about any one unless your buying something off him or u got a really bad ass car.. and the bad ass car is iffy no adays. anyway whats the condition of the car? Tthat should be your first place to start. If its already a rust bucket i say go ahead and junk it. Just cuz its free doesnt mean its a good deal.

Ok so if your past that its not a bad idea since u already have the ka but other then that i would of picked many other motors over it.. But since u asked about it and your not the king of fabricaters like pb&j its gonna cost u alot!!
Munts need to be made drive shaft will need to be custom exhaust will need to be made wiring harness will have to be converted. Now thats gonna be over a thousand dollars right there. I know u wont be doing any of this work your self because if u knew how u wouldnt be askin this question. So that right there will get u running but your still not done. Since your putting a 4 cyl into a 6 cyl car your speedo and rpms will be off. Now u can say a couple diff things but i feel it will annoy you cuz u said it will be your daily and your not gonna want to start racking up tickets.. so know u have the buy this little dakota thing to make the gauges read close to right and hopefully who ever did your wiring did it right and made sure all other gauges work properly or your gonna have to go buy after market gauges and pay someone to wire those in.
all in all i like the idea, im not against ka's at all but if your gonna do a built like this i would go rb or jz since the room is there for a straight six.. even if you keep it na i would go jz all day.
if u decide to do it good luck but if u want a daily unless u have 2-3k just sitting around your not gonna be done with it very fast and you'll probably never get it done like paul said

mcninney makes a mount kit, idk if it places the motor back far enough to use the stock driveshaft, the sppedo from the Z can be used as the cable drive fits into the ka trans , rpms won't work but tachs are cheap . i would suggest planning , saving then starting.
 
Thanks for the input. I got a lot to consider before i can even begin to try to get my project going. But you got me started in the right direction. And thanks for the Motivation PB&J.
 
shut the fuck up. get a L28ET stroke and bore to 3.1 get a decent turbo and shut the fuck up noob or better yet give it to me.

why the fuck would you drop a KA in it? are you retarded? i can understand a 510 or something but dont ruin the 280Z.
