Last tech thread before I blow this car to pieces

YOUS TROLLIN!
Driver
ok....... This shit is REALLY getting old. I am 100% convinced this car is haunted. I will try to post as much info as possible in this thread. I am trying to remember all the startlogs possible.

Way back when I first saw this car *was a friends* I took it for a drive back when t had the t25 and stock injectors. Car ran like a forking champ. Boosted hard, didnt bog, no shorts, everything worked, ect. He then switched to s15 480cc injectors. When he did this the car started having problems. White smoke, flooded engine during crank, wouldnt hold idle, stalled. Thought to be a blown head gasket, turned out to be fine. Car never ran right until I took delivery of it.

I brought it home with the whole exhaust side disassembled. I took the liberty of bolting on the t28, new exhaust manifold, new downpipe, new battery, replaced crushed O-Rings in the injectors. We tried starting her up, and nothing happened. Wouldnt turn over. Installed SAFC II, car now turned over but ran like absolute horse shit. Figured out we wired SAFC to ECU wrong. Uninstalled SAFC, cranked car and omgwtf it popped right up. Revved perfectly, didnt bog/stall/shake/jerk. Still running rich but hey we finally had the car steady and healthy.

We took it for a drive, gave it new gas and drove it back home. Tried starting it up a few days after drive and wouldnt kick over again. Engine refused to cooperate. Gave up hope and let it sit for a few more months.

Now here we are today. Car still refused to start, towed it to a friends house. He charged the battery, and once again the car just got up and started flying. Was running very healthy. Picked it up to tow her to the exhaust shop...............and here we go again. Refused to kick over, could smell the gas for a mile, and didnt start. Towed it back from exhaust shop and installed AFC NEO. We got it started but its very shaky, will bog/stall sometimes, refuses to rev correctly. Feels like anything under full throttle is garbage. We havent dialed in the NEO, this could be the problem. I dont understand how with the NEO it kicked over so easily though.

I am low on options. Nobody local can help with this car. If I need to try something out, it pretty much means buying something via internets, waiting for shipment and see if that was my problem. People are saying I should ship out my harness and have someone check it over for me. I dont think thats the issue because noone has fucked with it *nobody that I can recall at least*

If I sent out my ECU to get it retuned, would this help my problems out of should I start tracking other possible problems.

U Got A Ka Or An Sr????????????
Its Hard To Say With Out See It In Person
But If Its A Ka Sounds Like Open Loop To Closed Loop..malfuction......have You Check Obd?????
Also If Its A Ka...w S15 Injectors....w Out Remapping Of Ecu....or Using Safc2..its Gonna Act Up.....ive Seen Some Shit With Ka Engines And I Have A Process Of Elimination I Go Through....i Know Every Body Acts Or Thinks That The Y Kno Better
So Do Wat U Want And Let Me Kno
CAUSE I CAN HELP YOU....

it sounds to me like its a kaT with the 480cc injectors and no tuning. First depending on how u didn't wire the safc correctly the first time. You may have messed up the ecu.

2nd if u didn't retune the car or atleast adjust the low and high throttle on the Neo for the bigger injectors its gonna run rich and possible flood the engine sometimes.

3rd did u atleast set the Neo for the kind of afm and car that u have???
if u didn't then u basically dont know what the hell signal is being sent to the ecu.

if u want me to tune the neo for u PM.

You can't drop in s15 injectors and expect it to run right. You NEED a ROM tune or some kind of piggy back (SAFC) to compensate for the increase in fuel.

Its too late now, but you should never be ADDING modifications until the car is running properly in stock form. I'd say first test what you can without messing with anything - like pressurize the pipes to be 100% balls-on sure there are no leaks. When the ROM tune comes in, I'm guessing your problems will be solved however if that doesn't work, take the s15 injectors out and drop in some stocks (and remove the ROM chips). Test start. If there are still problems, test with a new MAF. OH, you are running a stock MAF, aren't you? If you're still having problems, remove that hacked up wire harness and send it to somebody who knows his shit up and down - like Taylor in Tampa.

I didnt add the injectors, the guy I bought it from did. I told him not to but he ignored me and went on with it. I am trying to fix his fuckups. I havent added anything to the engine since I took delivery. Before the injectors, the car ran gorgeous.

I have the NEO to compensate, but I do not know how much fuel to cut and where.

Why not? What is the efficiency rate of the stock injectors? Im almost positive you can run stock injecs with a upgraded turbo its not like your running high boost.

dont have stock injectors. I wouldnt want to run them anyway with the bigger turbo.

Why not? Its only a t28. Unless you plan on running 14psi all day. If it can get you up and unning on 7psi with 370cc you wil then know your problem.

As far as the not turning over thing. What do yuo mean. You turn the kay and NOTHING happens? As in starter doesnt engage? Electronics in the car turn on?

It sounds to me like you have a BUM Body harness.

I dunno exactly. Highest boost I would be running is 14lbs. I would only set that for our road courses.

If I can get away with stock injectors then fuck yea. I dunno if I could though.

so it spins everytime
just doesnt fire up

Next time try pulling the EFI Fuse and crank then pop it back in it should start. My friends untuned NX2000 used to do that

crist people. everything ran fine while the car was stock with the stock injectors. some body changed the injectors and the car started acting up. You can not just toss in s15 injectors with out a calibrated ecu or an safc\emanage like tonymac said. And notice all your problems are from the installation of the injectors.

Read the safc NEO manual. It will tell you that there are a series of checks that you need to go through before your car will even work with the safc.

to compensate for the 370cc injectors after installing 480cc injectors you need to set the high and low throttle maps to -22% across the board. After this airflow conversion the ecu will send out the corrected pulse width to the injectors so they will act like stock injectors......

There are also airflow sensor IN and OUT numbers that need to be set. This tells the safc to convert a certain voltage scale to one that the ecu will read, to run the car correctly. If you dont have this set correctly the car wont run right. I belive stock sr mafs is 6 IN and 6 OUT, if not TRY 5in 5 out. This information can be found in the technical documentation.

There also is a option to select the number of cylinders and the orientation of the throttle position sensor. If these things are not set to 4 cyl, and the arrow pointing up, then your RPM and TPS calibrations will not be correct. If those are not correct then the safc has no parameters to run the engine.

Remember all those booklets with all those words on them that your supposed to read. Your supposed to read them before even thinking about installing Apexi's product.

The engine condition you are describing is one with a bad airflow sensor. But if you dont have your safc setup correctly the ecu dose not know how to read the ariflow sensor signal. Set up your safc correctly. And the dead battery might be a draw from the way the safc was wired.
