Matt Waldin is now the 2009 Drift Mania Championship after sweeping the series with podium finishes. I talked to Matt Waldin earlier today who was ecstatic about his victory in the TunerIcons/Mishimoto Nissan 350z. He had this to officially say about his victory in the season.
“On the real, Consistency is key to winning a championship, driving 3 FD events before the start of the DMCC season was just the eye opener and conditioning the new car and I needed to be sucessful in Canada. The Tuner Icons / Mishimoto 350 Z had a lot to do with the championship also but I’m officially done bringing a knife to a gun fight.
I will be using a lot of my winnings to compete in the final round of FD in Irwindale for one last hoo-rah for the season. Things are in the works now to build one car to leave out west for next year and one for the east coast events and get to as many events as humanly possible next year.”

you either gotta be a bad ass or the competition to suck to sweep a series like that
 
Matt's a good dude (or used to be when I talked to him a lot). I equate him to those that had FD/Nopi lisences back in the day. You got your ass kicked at FD, you kicked every ones ass at NOPI, there was no in between.

Matt is a super nice guy. I hung out with him in Chicago at D1. Him and D-bag are nice guys.
