Does anyone know or read about a 2nd Gen ('95-'98) Mazda Protege
w/ a JDM GTR/GTX 1.8 BP-T engine swap in the U.S?

Ive been searching online for bout a week and only found a handfull of 1st Gen Proteges, 323s, MX3s, Escorts and a few Miatas with the swap actually done.
The shit ive found on 2nd Gen Proteges w/ BP-T swaps r from '04 -'05 forum thread build-ups that never were completed.

The BP-T is a 1.8 liter DOHC turbocharged motor from the JDM Mazda Familia/323 GTR/GTX AWD Rally-Spec car rated @210hp stock.

escorts, proteges, and 323s came with bp motors but i think only the 323 gtx were the only ones that came tubroed in the states and it had awd.

Its weird. My friend had a 323 GT that we thought was from the US - had no signs of being Canadian. Too bad it was forever ago...

wiki says it was canada that got the 323 gt...but idk. He definitely owned one. I helped him work on it a few times. Cool car and pretty damn fast for what it was.

Aren't Miata motors BPs? Also I think a Kia Sephia came with a BP. I could be wrong.

Crazy motors. I had a friend with a big turbo Escort GT. Thing was sick!

Miata's have BPs. Probably IMO one of the best 4 cylinder motors out there. You can slap a turbo on there and make like 400 and blow it then head to the junkyard and pick one up for 200 bucks and throw the turbo kit and repeat. LOL.

I have seen an Escort smoking a C6 Z06 back when they first came out.

Ill have to dig up some old info, but I have swap info for BP-t into a protege. Are you wanting to keep the AWD or just do a FWD BP-t? Because from what I know of its a pretty straight forward swap to be FWD BP-t.

But as I said, Ill do some digging to see if I can find the info from when my ex had a 97 protege.

Thanks for the comments guys...
Yeah i know the BP series motors are in a shit load of cars...especially in
N/A form...but I only found one 2nd Gen Protege (95-98) w/ a BP-T FWD swap
on CARDOMAIN...some dude up north....

The swap into the 1st gen Protege and 323 is cake but the swap into the 2nd Gen is a bitch... VERY EXPENSIVE and a wiring nightmare.

The reason i bring this topic up is bc between me, my bro and my pops we've had a '95 Protege LX w/ a JDM BPT swap for about 5 years. I already know the process of the swap.
Thing is ...it seems to be only a handful of Second Generation Proteges w/ this swap in the U.S....So I wanted to see if any of u guys know of a completed project.

And im talking about 1995-1998 Proteges only (the hardest to swap into)

From all the deep searching ive done... i think our Protege is the only 2nd Gen in Florida
w/ the BP-T swap unless some dude has a sleeper in the garage

Theres defenitely a certain amount of pride involved in that...;)

I imported a BP motor. and the miata has a BP rwd. These engines are AWD and they are not in high demand. Probably because it cost to much to modify and make it work.
