Megasquirt Installer and Assistance.

Ya so im already running 2.36 and MT 2.25. Ive checked contineuity from the edis connector (pip and saw) to the db37 connector, perfect. And I have spark. But not rpm signal on the MT cluster. I checked my edis ground which returns the same voltage as my battery so that is perfect. Ive checked all fused links and relays. Inspected for broken wires which i found none. I have readjusted the VR sensor so that its < 1\16th away from trigger wheel, it was running perfectly with 3\16ths clearance before.

I have spark, that signal goes to the edis module, then it it sent out to ms as the Profile Ignition Pickup, ms is supposed to return with a Spark Angle Word to the edis module, which fires the coil for spark.

Because I am getting spark the VR sensor is reading the trigger wheel(VR sensor good). I am getting spark so EDIS is firing the coils(good?). Did megasquirt fuck up and the spark that I am getting is the 10*BTDC limp? Remember that I have ohm tested pip and saw wires, connector to connector and there is no resistance (perfect connection). I have power and ground at EDIS connector.

I have not put megasquirt on a stim.

For simplicity I am going to try replacing the edis module. The pins are strait and clean on mine, but ill replace it and see if it changes anything while my stim is in the mail.

So far I have narrowed it down to being one of two things, something is wrong with megasquirt or the EDIS module. Ive already gone over my wiring with a fine tooth comb and have tested that it is correct. Dose anyone have any other ideas? Software glitches? I have no resets on my system, everything was running fine.

Pumaking, could you PM me your phone # so I can bounce ideas off you?

fellow MSer. Let me ask
did u use the auto tune feature? If you did what afr table did u use?

it'd be good if u could help out 240sickness. Can't wait to see his car running good again.

I hate MegaSquirt lol.

MS1 v3.0 here. :p

Did u buy a new coupler, so we can finish tuning the ve table?

The Autotune feature is alright I never used it as theirs really no need, and I dont have O2 sensor hooked up to MS. It prevents the system from making adjustments. If you have no idea on how to tune than its a good tool. The guys from Grassroots Motorsports gained 20whp using the autotune feature.

Vince, i was driving the car for 3 days. The wire harness was everywhere on the passenger floor though. I wanted to clean it up a little bit so i could tune on the laptop while dan would drive the car. I went to start the car after i bundled the wires with zipties condiut and e-tape and it wouldnt start. I checked on laptop and ms2 wanst getting rpm signal. I am trying some stuff, no one was home friday to sign for the stimulator that was supposed to come in the mail. I am trying some stuff, if the things im trying do not work i have absolutly no idea wtf could be wrong.

Its not necessary, but it did speed things up (help alot) getting ericks car cruising before we started doin the boost tuning.

Is there any way you know where get the new version Megasquirt, the Ford EDIS, etc? If I can get it all at once that would be great. I plan on probably running a 20v 4ag in the future(when my driving skills are higher)and this setup would benefit me a lot but I don't know that much about ecus. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I go through Jerry at www.Diyautotune.com for all my Megasquirt needs. As for Ford EDIS you can go the junkyard route or purchase somethings new, which is like $50-$70 for coilpack, $30-$70 for ignition wires and couple of bucks for sensors.

Talk to 240sicknessx. He seems to know what hes talking about when it comes to megasquirt. I think hes running it on his application.

diyautotune ftw and edis i got mine from ebay and got plug wires from summit i think .........came out pretty cheap too for wires, 25' of wire and all the ends.........

If you are talking about the universal wire kit that allows you to choose your terminal ends and custom lenghts that you build. To adapt those to the ford coil pack your gonna have to get a 7-9mm post adapter from murrays 44$. (manny pm me if you are doing this i might have some stuff left over). Then you will still have to modify the post adapters to fit inside the female terminals on the coilpacks. I did mine, the insulating boots cover the entire post adapter so it looks professional and I did em pretty accurate so they are tight in there.

The best source for information is strait from the horses mouth, www.megasquirt.info . Decide what ignition system you want to use or whats best for your application and then read that ign section 5 times to understand everything that you need to do including the software settings.

I'm gonna see if I can convert my FORD coilpack to LS1 coilpacks. I came up with a way that would lick sick on my CA.

Hey manny I wouldnt go with the SRT-4 coilpack its very weak we toyed with one in school and it blows spark out around 250whp
