Miata vs 240sx

I'm debating on my 1st drift project. I've researched on both cars and I know there's some miata owners and many 240 owners here. I'm hoping to get some of ur input and advice here. Why would the Miata be a better car? Why would the 240 be a better car?
Miata (NA)
Pros:
-Benchmark handling
-Convertable
Cons:
-Tight interior
-Homosexual Stereotype ( I don't care what other ppl think anymore)
-cute

240SX (S13...S14s look better but are more expensive)
Pros:
-2.4 Liters of torque!
-Macho (compared to the miata)
-Junkyards are full of s13 parts (wonder why)
Cons:
-Everyone wants one now
-Many want to steal them
-Heavier
-Hard to find a clean one w/o a Tokyo Drift price+tax

just wondering...but if you don't care what other people think anymore...why would the homo stereotype be under the "cons" list?

i would suggest going for the miata because of the wieght and cornering response, but no power , the 240 has lots of torque and you can always get the SR20 motor, downside is wieght and crap as stock suspension

Becuz that's prolly the main reason it draws away potential buyers. I used to thing "Damn it sounds like a great car for auto-x
+drifting but then everyone will think I'm gay and I'll get no chicks". Now I opened my eyes a bit more. If I get miata I wouldn't care if ppl thought I was gay cuz my girl is bangin' lol

dude if you get a miata you can have shirtless guys you don't know hanging from your roll bar in no time. Police will not approve though. Or maybe it was the drifting. Or maybe the trespassing.

My girl has a S14 and she raced a red miata (big power difference!). The miata seems that for what it lacks in power it makes up in handling. As for SR20s, I'm biased towards the KA since my alti has one. Atleast it's faster than G20s and B13/B14 SE-Rs. But my project is strictly auto-x/Drifting. Besides I doubt u need large amounts of power to slide and have fun :bigthumbu

underpowered and expensive i could never pay so much money for such little metal its so small to me i cant imagine it being a real car it lacks mass and powaaa thats my opinion

If you are looking for a challenge, get the Miata. If you want something to go and stay sideways, get the 240.

That's all lamen's terms of course.

There's a reason why it's priced high. 1: has a cult-like following and 2: Benchmark handling. Yes it may be slow as shit but it would out handle a stock 240. Also you can either swap a V8 or boost it and I'm sure it'll rip a 240 w/ the same hp rating.

RWDrift: I'm sure the NA is not as challenging as drifting an E30 right? Why would the miata be challenging in the 1st place?

The Miata is 10x more challenging to drift than an e30. First of all, you're underpowered, even for the power/weight ratio. Then, you have no steering angle, which means your rear end comes out too much, you wont have the steering angle to support, and you spin. But if you do manage to hold the drift, the fact that the Miata is one of the shortest wheel base rwd cars out there will make you snap oversteer on transitions like crazy

Word to your mutha. Plus you'll be in a miata, which is a girls car.

Haha even worse.
Cuz the "snap oversteer". I'm it's it "snaps" becuz ppl aren't used to a MR configuration cuz the majority of affordable cars are usually FF and some FR. Or cuz it also has a short wheel base? I'd love to get my hands on a s13 vert and drift it or atleast try to drift it. 1 thing is for sure..no hachi rokus...too damn expensive nowadays (u could get one for $500 instead of $2000)

MR configuration isnt used for drifting for a reason. It is a whole different setup and weight distribution. Trying to rotate your car with so much weight in the back is VERY hard. Yes, it can drift, but its VERY hard.

just get a s13 ridiculously easy to drift, drifted a S13 yesterday for the first time and did better than I ever have in any other car, even ones i've driven for years

i drive a miata.....they are fun....especially when they have some nice mods to help it out a bit.

it really isnt a bad car... if you have questions i would be happy to answer them.

cult like following yea ok http://www.southfloridamiataclub.com/ here are sum cult members there all senior citizens lol benchmark handling u have to be fucking kidding me you really must not be doin your research since da newest shit nowadays is dropping ls1s in s13s

i dd and drift my miata and and its really not that bad... at a red light the other day i was next to my friends s14 and the wheel base didnt seem that much shorter than the s14, few inches max...unless i cant see well. and i've never noticed it to make that much difference in my angle next to a stock 240... and as for the transitions it def. does wanna spin but if you get used to it you adjust, and im on stock suspension and i get by. the miata definately lacks in power(especially the 1.6) but with its light weight and ridiculous gears i beat a ka from the hole and from a role he only got a fender. but forget that gay car shit, i thought the same thing when i bought mine but it was so much fun to drive i didnt car... and the ladies def. like the convertable lol
