I think the whole 240 vs Miata thing depends on the type of driver you are. What I ment by benchmark handling is by class as in 4 cyl class under $5000. And take a look at spec miatas. Lightweight +great suspension wins. I love the 240 but since it's a must have car now it most likely experiences vandalism and theft.jdmnismo300 said:

since you're starting out a 240 would suit you since it likes to stay sideways and has plenty of torque but i learned a ton on my 86 and i recently started messing around with e30s which i like a lot more...240s are also cheap and abundant soooo do what you like but if you find and 86 or an e30 go for it and Stiffen the FUCK up!!

i say ...drive both then youll see.... having a s14 it is nice especially interior and torquey. cheap mods....(pre used mostly) junk yard parts...aka J30 Z32 Q45 wheel options from many cars blah blah blah
but at work one day i test drove a early 90's miata and wow they are fun really responsive steering even stock but soo blah on power
id say get a e 30 and be different....all depends how much money you have..check forums there are some badass miata's out there..(trust me it can not be gay)

and jdmnismo300 stop hating miatas have a whole mess of swaps you cold do look at gearz on espn 2 and there current project is a small block v8 miata it fits right in and i have some frinds doing an f22 swap into a miata i love s13 im planning on getting one but miatas are fun cars light weight and tons of options

just droping in with my thoughts.... i got a s13 as my 1st car. before the whole drift crazy and everything else and i loved it! its fun because you can do everything to the car and you can find parts any where. i never owned any thing other then s13s and alot of my friends have been the same way. i have driven just about every mita out there (use to work for carmax) and they are a fun lil car but i personaly cant get over the style of the car and how tight the interior is.
