Need help!! KA PROBLEM!

ok it is a 89 s13. so i just finished my E to DE swap last week. everything was in place and ready to go (was hoping)

so i start it and it idles like a bitch.. maybe idles for like less then a min then just dies.. if i try 2 give it gas at about 1500 rpm or even less it'll also just die.
so i got another MAS and ECU. today tried changin both but still same problem.

my friend removed all emmision for me, supposely did it correct.
all vacume hoses are fine.
the car has been sittin for about over a year from the previous owner.. i havnt changed the fuel in the tank so that is one question i have..

how can i remove fuel from the tank without going thru the trouble of dropping the tank..
any suggestion from you guys??

any ideas of why my car is trippin like that?? couple ppl said the old fuel has nothing to do with it but i think it does so thats why i want to put new fuel and some injector cleaner in there..

but other than that does anyone has any ideas? suggestion? similar experiences?

also can back pressure do this?? i have just the exhaust manifold on with no down pipe no nothing.

well hope you guys can help me so i can finish my project once and for all.well atlease the engine part. interior still gutted like a mufuker.lol

THANK YOU! in advance

sounds like the timing is off, i had a similar problem

try this
1.take off the 2 bolts that hold the dist. in place dont take out the dist just take out the two bolts

2. with the car running turn the dist as far foward as u can and see it the car idles better, if not try the other direction

if the car does respond and and either way does help ur timing is off by 1 tooth

if you wanna drain the gas just turn the car on and pull the fuel line off and drain it into gas tanks or w/e.. by turn the car on i mean accessory on.. not engine starting on.

from the sound ooof it you probably mixed up the fuel lines check that and then get back to me

it wouldnt start at all if the lines were mixed up.. trust me i went thru a brand new starter because of that careless mistake lol

thanks to all who responded..

ok i no 4sure the lines is not a problem coz it wudnt even be idlein at all..
timin i believe is on point coz when the engine was in the dude i got it froms s14 it was running fine. IT IS a s14 into an 89'.. so i did switch the distr. and from what i know im pretty sure i did it correct.

( rotor pointin to cylinder #1,) on distr. numbers are 1,2,4,3 from what it sais on the cap. but on the manuel it had said 1,3,4,2 and when i tried it like that it didnt even start at all... on then engine its 1,2,3,4.. so all that is correct i believe. but idk maybe it can be 1 tooth off pero i doubt it coz it was running fine before.

sorry for writing so much lol

im located in hollywood.

thanks again in advance..

P.S i do have a walbro 255 pump but thats shudnt even matter becoz the regulator will regulate it correct?

if u dont get it soon, LMK. if its the timing thing ill help ya out, when i did my swap i would have bet timing was 100% perfect and i was off by one damn tooth

hey guys.
thanks for all responses..

well today my friend (MIAMI-200SX)came to help me out . he knows more than i do.
we tried messing with the timing on the distributor advancing it and retardin it but still same problem will idle for 30 secs and just die. if i give it gas itll act up and die as well...
we tried 3 different MAF and still same issue.. 2 ECU still same issue and ECU throwing out CODE 55 (NONE)..
i didnt drop the tank or take the fuel out, just added about a gallon of new fuel and some fuel cleaner or w.e but still same issue..
he sais it might be the timing tho..
so he has a friend that might come and help out with the timing with a test light., so well see.

but if you guys think of anything alse just let me know ill give it a try im open minded to anything.

thank you

Will the engine rev if you spray starting fluid while you open the throttle? Dose the engine idle smooth?

Look at all the connections back from the mass airflow sensor and make sure a hose is not off.

I would definitely drop the tank and drain it out. While its out look for rust or crap sitting at the bottom or shit that comes out of the tank when you drain it. If you do find a lot of rust or whatever that may be your problem and if so then you should clean the hell out of the tank or take it somewhere that will clean it. Gas that sits basically turns into varnish and thats not good. Does the car shake and sound bad when it idles for that 30 seconds?

It was only sitting there a year. It should not have varnished yet, its not premixed with oil. It could have dropped octane enough not to have good combustion though. You can empty the tank my jumping the fuel pump relay while the key is in the on position and routing the fuel feed line to a empty gas tank. Add fresh gas and see what happens. I would see if it revs better when you add starting fluid first, thats a sure way to tell if the fuel is bad or not.

Yeah but who knows whats in the tank along with the gas. I know injector cleaners and most fuel additives make gas go bad really fast if they sit for a while without being used. Believe me lol I put injector cleaner in my 89 with a DOHC and the car had other issues so I didn't drive it for about 2 months. The gas went so bad that when i finally got the car to start it fouled out all the plugs and wouldn't rev past like 3k smoking black smoke like a bitch.

Alright man if you say so.

YA when car is idles for those 30 or 20 seconds it idles NASTY. even tho im running it for now on open headers untill i get it running so i can go get my exhaust welded and stuff.. still idles nasty shakes the shit out of the whole car, i step on the gas and it feels like it chokkes and just dies..

na i havnt tried starting fluid yet maybe i should. but 1st ima see if some1 can come help me that has a timing light just to make sure the timing is 100% correct and get that out of the way..

soo well see..

any other ideas guys?? im try drainin the tank to but idk if ima drop it.

thanks
