need mechanic

im having a hard time trusting people with my car, but i can not fix what is wrong with my sr20... its an s15 and it has a strange tick/click,, the video is in the forums under please can someone diagnose this.... it seems alot louder than it is because i am so close. however, some times it does get that loud.... anyone know a shop in west palm/boynton beach area that can fix it for me, i have a couple hundred bucks to spend on fixing it if its a serious problem... i just want it running right.

No. Maybe Ter Tech.

I know for a fact Bumble Bee has plenty of experience with Sr20 motors.

i know some of the people who claim they work at ter tech, no thank you.... is bumble bee extreamly busy, cause its a far drive to go back up and down.

damn,. my eclipse had the same problem. and i was the rods bearings. r u driving the car ? that noise come from the bottom or top ?

That is what the # is for. Call before you goto the shop. The number is for Niel. He is the man. Tell him Zak told you to call.

if is in the top.. may be u locky. and dont have to pay toomuch.. but like Z4K says.. there u got the number.. but.. i think u allways can do something urself. u dont have to pay always. i just try to help..and i know he's gonna say.. " u ask for a shop" i know bla bla. i hope everything go good with that sr. looks nice.g/l ... also..did u check something ?? or just when start doing that noise.. u just want to take it to a shop ?

Did you recently buy the car with the swap?

Did you just install the motor?

Was the car sitting?

the extent of my mecianical knowledge is bolt ons, id like to learn more but it seems to be too risky to work on it myself, id rather shadow a shop, or find someone who is 100% sure they know what it is and shadow them and pay them for there help... it didnt make the noise when i bought it, just a few weeks after, i took the valve cover off, timing chain is really tight and thats as far as i know under that... my friend moved some things around but i dont know what he did.

did u check the oil ?? and the oil was in max level ?? or low ? also.. also make sure ur oil pump is working and getting good oil to the head. also.. u r 100% the nose come from the top ?? the oil is good ??

i just installed my oil pressure gauge... i was using 20w50.. but now im at 10w30 from redline.. the 20w50 was only in for about 200 miles, but the tick was before that... also, i took a am not 100% sure it is coming from the top, but with the little amount of knowledge i have, everyone who looks at it says its at the top.

did u start uo the car and go under the car to hear from there ?i would take the oil pan out and check inside there. check the rods. that's easy to take it out.. check if all metal are good in the rods.

i will first take it to someone who knows, not that you dont... but i sure dont feel confident in what i will do under there.... at least un-supervised... and i was under the car when i was checking for oil leaks from my new sandwich plate install, and it still sounded like it was coming from the top.

yeah. that's cool.take it to the shop.. the only think is.. if it come from the bottom and taking the oil pan out u can see.. its any rods or something from the bottom.. u gonna know is gonna cost u about $1.400 to @2.000 may be u dont have that money. so u gonna pay for towing to the shop. then if that the problem. and u dont have the money.. u got to bring ur car again home with a tow truck,. or if u can tow it for free.. that will be perfect. G/L dude.

the car drives.... someone told me it might be the vvt solenoid.... i just unplugged it and it runs exactly the same as when its plugged in.

cool. try that.. but.. i know u can run it.. but.. not recommended. u can brake more parts on engine driving it like that.
