so ive been looking around at cars and have always fancied the 1st gen NA body miatas. Just wanted to know did any of them come with LSD and well do they slide with the stock 1.8 motor? (im looking at 93 and up just for the .2L bump) Oh and whats is their lug pattern? i found a few for less than 3k. thought they could be an affordable fun daily/weekend slider. thanks in advance

I own a 94. Miata c-package

It has an open diff.....still slideable.
lug pattern is 4x100
Very quick cars with load of potential.

Buy one....now.

they are fun cars to drive.....

i have a 92 with a lower comp. 1.6

i chose a 1.6 becuase parts are easier and cheaper than a 1.8.

but 1.8s do make a bit more power ( no big deal) and besides the motor and diff...everythin else is the same as a pre 94.

btw...

89-93 is 1.6l
94-05 is 1.8l

its 50/50 on wether they came lsd or not becuase it was an option unless you had an M edition or LE.

their lug pattern is 4x100 just like hondas and many other fwd cars.... rims with nice offset are hard to come by but if you look in the right places you can get some nice wheels.

they arentt he best drifters out there but they can be slide like a champ and slowly bu surely the drift aftermarket support is growing very rapidly.

if you have any more questions or would like to check out my car let me know... i believe your in the kendall area as well right??

maybe one day we can shoot the shit and talk cars.

let me know.

yeah im in kendall dude, thanks for the info:bigthumbu ill def send you a pm as soon as i find a clean one for sale. One more question tho its a noobie one, how well can they slide bone stock? the car is going to be my daily and any money i have left is going to go to the Z to hopefully have it finished. so any sliding i do in the miata its gonna be stock unfortunately lol (so maybe get a 1.8 even tho theyre a bit heavier?) oh and since its a daily first, how reliable are these cars? mileage a big issue for older examples?

Ralph slid the shit out of his with only springs for the longest time, and could totally rip. I think the only thing on ralphs car that hasn't broken is the engine lol go figure.

like jorge said, dude i slide my car for over a year in stock form and still today i slide my car stock power.... they make nice daily its just the fact that its suck a small car and you barely have space that makes it not such a good daily.

1.8 arent as much heavier than a 1.6...its like less than 50 lbs difference.

as far as reliability, they re very reliable....my only started breaking when i was hitting the track hardcore and making more power. but stock they are just as reliable as any other 4banger.

mileage isnt an issue for these cars but you shouldnt have a problem fiding a nice low mileage one cine most miata owners are old farts who barely drive it.

but mileage isnt a bigg issue as long as it rides and sounds healthy.

hell chelsea slides a miata and ralph has been doing it forever, that little car has a hell of a lot potential if done right. so get one and do it right or i will ban you :p

well, went to look at a 95 today, it was a POS in person lol. never saw a motor move inside the bay as much as this one did, the mounts were shot to hell. The motor had trouble staying alive too and almost died when we turned on the lights:confused:

Even still i think it may have had the torsen LSD, because i read that if a 94+ car has leather everything and power everything theres a good chance it also has the LSD. anyone know if this is true?
