Need opinions on my truck towing situstion bros leave a thought

Pat what mileage do those 7.3's really get at 75-80 mph towing 7000 lbs? My gas truck gets 8-10 and i dont have to spend much and it is stupid reliable. And stupid cheap to fix. The diesel is more money everywhere which you know. My truck $12 oil changes diesel 50. Most expensive repair on gas, 1000 will fix anything. I do love cummins trucks but the interior blows, ford by far has the best interior. I see myself keeping this getting some nice tahoe seats. a truck cam and maybe paint.

your truck gets 8-10 towing on flat ground.The second you get into any hills (on the way to Road Atlanta and all of the street wise events) it will get 4-6 MAYBE. Also, while your strugglin to get up those hills get shit mpg, I'll be cruisin past ya on 38.5" tall x16 inch wide mud tries barley breakin a sweat and gettin 13-15 mpg.
Most expensive fix on a 7.3 truck will be the injector control module, and that will be $1,500. ALSO, thats about the only thing that will break.

Buy a $300 programmer. Spend $60 on making an intake. Buy a 4 inch exhaust for like $300.
Once you do that, you'll get 16-18mph TOWING. Up hills, down hills, whatever, it dont matter.

Dont be one of those fools that thinks their gas truck is just as good as a diesel truck.

Bill, please please please listen to me. Buy a 96 or 97 f250/f350. Put a programmer, DP and exhaust, and an intake on it. You will be the happiest Meffer in the world.
 
K shopping i will do. I'm figuring i can get 1-500 for my truck as is. So we'l see how long it takes me. Btw do you have payments on your truck? Im just curious how you do it?

Got that 06 f250 I had from a fund that was set up from when my grandfather died. Left me a big amount of money to get myself some kind of nice vehicle. Too bad I didnt realize 6.0's sucked. haha.

but no, I have no payments. I traded my 6.0 truck for that big ol 7.3 truck I have now.
 
gotcha i have a decent job by all means not good. And i struggle to just drive local events and build the car the traveling i don't know how im gonna pay for but i really want to run swd this season.
 
Hey pat, do the 96-97 Fords have better transmissions then Dan's 95?

haha I have no idea. I had one that was auto, and one that was manual. My auto one had a shit ass tranny in it. Never wanted to shift and just acted like a complete dickhead.
My 5 spd one was a bossssss. I LOVED that truck.

Yeah Dan's truck makes me not want an auto, but your truck and Gary's truck are fine. That's why I was thinkin of getting that body style. Plus it doesn't look so old haha

I heard with the programmers they can save you some on gas too with some mode there. Correct me if im wrong please.
 
I was just looking at a 95 f250 single cab auto for 5500 and I'm sure it can be talked down. It's been sitting there so long
 
I have the intake and the 3in down pipe to a 4in exhaust. I was planning to get the programmer but didn't know what too get.
 
Fords and dodges suck diesel unloaded at 70mph I get 21-21.5 highway loaded 3 cars 13.5 highway 70mph. 4 cars 11-11.5 at 65. 10.5ish around 70 after 73 my truck sucks gas. Fords have shitty auto trannys carlos' ford got average 4.2 at 70 with 4 cars and the dodges are just ugly but I've heard the 12valve is badass
