need some advice!!

ok so my buddy asked me to help him do a sick car... origanally he wanted to put a 1jzgte in a 85 supra... i asked a couple of friends and they said that its a big headech... recomended me to just get a 240 a put that 1jzgte... my questions are:

how much fab work is need it to get a 1jzgte in a 85 supra? how about in a s13?
do they sell mounting kits for a 1jzgte to slide in the supra? how about in the s13?
wat would be a rought number on price for this swap on the supra? how about the s13?
do i need a front sump or rear sump for the supra? how about the s13?

all the help will be a lot of help cuz im starting to do my homework on parts need it... i will keep u guys updated on the project which we should start this summer... all depending if we keep the supra or get a 240...

Thanks!!

its all depends on your fab skill ive done a couple 1j/2j s13/s14 projects also ls1 s13 projects and other motors in different cars the work to put it in an 85 supra might actually be easier but might not. no matter what its all depending on your skill level.
idk if anyone mass produces a kit but search or lmk i can make it
to do eveything the right way new clutch(act) waterpump, timing belt, fmic, r154 with all misc parts usall comes up around 6-8000
front sump for s13 idk for the supra most likely rear

ok so ive found a mount kit for an s13 to match the 1jzgte motor for $200... i found the full swap 1jzgte with manual tranny ecu and wire harness for about $2k and its a front sump... bsides bolting up the motor mounts what else is need it to get the 1j in the s13? do we need to modiffy the firewall or will it fit just right? i know im gona need a radiator, guessing fuel system (fuel pump, new fuel line, filter, etc), what else?

also me and my friends are good with mechanical labor but are not so good with wiring... i mean doing the motor wireharness its not a big deal but how would i make the cluster work? do i have to tap it into the 1j ecu or how would i do it? i know most likely all the wiring will be send out to get done just for me to know how would that be done?

Thanks chris for ur info... it helped... i will most likely be contacting u when we start this...

axle954: so ur saying that i shouldnt do it because im asking questions that i bet u didnt know the answers to eather?
if people do the "if you have to ask then do it" thing i guess no one will be doing swaps, or drift, even better DRIVE... im asking questions to make this build easier and with less headechs... i actually ask questions cuz i like to learn new things every day, dont we all ask questions when we are attempting to do something and u hit "dead end"? i know i do cuz i want to get out of that dead end... if u were drivng thru a town that u dont know and got lost, are you going to ask someone to direct u to the right way?.... then u shouldnt of been driving thru that town cuz u dont know it...

Alex has a good point . Your asking waaaay to many question . Just search google and every other site you can like maybe supra forums and see if they have done swaps like this before and just do it. If you don't have skill In doing swaps then don't ..

Searching Google will come up with 50,000+ people asking the exact same question. So either you cant use the internet or you're too lazy to do any research yourself.

Not trying to be a dick, but alex and damian are kinda right. This info is public knowledge and most ppl that come on here asking questions like that usually end up fucking up big time. Just do alot of searching, its more helpful than this site is anyway. If u need guidance contact jackson he does these all day and will probably be able to help u out if u get stuck......Otherwise just search, search, and keep searching. You will find a complete how-to, trust me.

yeah thats why im starting to do my search now... asking questions now to see wat kind of problems i may run into.. we have a good amount of time to research and im using every bit of time for it... im gathering as much info as i can find... and yeah i know ive found a good amount of good info on the web dont give me wrong, but i wanted to ask personally to the people that have done it, like jackson... also i posted it on this forum because its local... so i wanted to c who can i go to if i ran into problems... i want to know the problems that i may/may not run in to... so i can b ready and try to avoid them... believe me i have a bunch of bookmarks for this build that i will most likely use... but having extra info and asking extra questions has never hurt anybody

thats totally different bro, n this swap is super easy so if u have to ask then no dont even try

its not rocket science but it shouldn't be too hard if you research it. I know there are sites that have guides on how to do these kinds of swaps.

all it is motor, trans/clutch setup, wiring & ecu, mounts, driveshaft, shifter, turbo related stuff(ic, piping, bov, turbo, etc) and making sure you got all small things (radiator, hoses, lines, bolts, fans, motor/trans accessories etc) and your good to go.

well we are sticking with the 85 supra... hopefully today we start the strip down.. we might order the motor eather today or in the next couple of weeks... i found a guide that will help us ALOT... thanks for all the info guys!... i will be making a thread on the build...

links to said guide? Posting the solution is the best way to keep ppl from opening new threads on same subject...sucks when you take time to search and all you find is "k fixed it bye"

You want a straight six in a decent car that will kick the hell out of most other drift cars right??

1992 325is's sell for cheap nowadays dude. Cheap cast manifold from eBay, TRM tune. Done.

Didn't even look at the date. It came up in a search result.

So if we both delete our posts, does it fall back down to oblivion?
