No time to attend pesky Qualfying events? No Problem!

no, they are trying to make bank. I understand people that cant make it to events, but the majority of these "bought" passes will be rich fucks that dont belong in the seat of a car. Sure their mommy signed the check that turned their car into a "pro drift racer" but they cant buy talent. NOPI knows this and is running with the idea that the purchase is a 80% chance that they wont make it past qualifying. WOOHOO they just made money off of a 16 second run or the car that just got k-railed to death.

Yea so who cares. Now they take that money and rent much more baller tracks for those who are qualifying, also organizing themselves better to provide a better product for the fans and racers.

DRIFTING IS GROWING UP IN THE STATES. DEAL WITH IT.

you are so off it hurts. IF they were trying to make bank they could make it more $$ than that. they are making it COST fair for someone to travel about 2 states away (trailering a car) + entry+tires+gas+hotel+food. if they had a lower 'price'... say $300 (so you dont think they are trying to make money) then everyone would bitch about its too cheap and "I spent $xx to get my license". you cant have it both way, i think 750 is pretty perfect number myself.

EVEN STILL
if you buy a license, the first TWO events are now your qualifiers that will STILL cost money to get to and now instead of just doing a good enough run, you have to be one of the TOP16 to make it. I've seen guys hit awesome qualy runs and NOT make top16. so its not any 'easier'.

and DID YOU KNOW that formulaD originally was a 'show up and drive' type of setup? till they got 80+cars and not enough time in the day to run them all.

who cares what they do with licensing, long as i can drive they can give them one to my mom.

is it wrong to think of nick hogan??? haha

they are doing this partially because not every region has people organizing a qualifier. remember last year? before the season i had to goto frikken virginia and texas. its not the best solution, it would be nice to have more quals around the country but oh well.

a series would be sweet, but without tandem its not that great... and without more than 12 people in caged cars its not the great to have tandem series.

get cages people. atleast main hoops and door bars.

Most ppl are annoyed that florida is getting all the licensing events lately

This really isnt that bad of a deal, you can get your license and compete at the 2 localist of events

plus $750 is a good price to keep every tom dick and harry from signing up. I remember the first year I went to FD Atlanta before they had liscenings events, and there was about 100 or something cars signed up to try and qualify. Some were good, a lot couldnt even get it sideways, and it made for very long day

I really don't see this as a 'buy a license' type thing. If you send in videos of yourself doing donuts in a culdesac or just doing crappy drifting, with a shabby-ass car and you don't show that you have a truck/trailer, and some kind of real team organization then I am willing to be more than $750 that they arent going to give you a license.

And I'm amazed at some of you guys talking about this just bringing rich people in.... seriously? $750?? Most guys spent more than that on every single NOPI event they did last year....

someone sponsor me so i can get a nopi license...lol... cause i dont have $750, my car looks shabby and i dont have a trailer nor team... :(

I agree.... I've spent more than $750 at local events already. I would pay $750 for a provisional license, no doubt.

Technically, it's a free year pass at Ter-Tech events. :D

But seriously though..... I agree with boxmod/drumfunken. $750 is nothing. You cannot honestly say they are "trying to bank". The shitty drivers will be filtered out in the track anywyas.

very true

i doubt harri would accept you as a 'pro' until you got a full license (top16). if he accepts purchased licenses he'd be a fool.

But like the memo says, you have to be approved by providing videos and what-not. I don't think they'll just hand out licenses to anyone w/ $750 and a drift car b/c on top of that being shady business, it could be a liability too.
