NOPI Drift and Ter-Tech go to Finland

Ter-Tech organized an event in Finland with Finnish organizer called radalle.com we signed a deal with NOPI that the winner of the event will get a NOPI license ( ofcourse only if he/she is good enough). Radalle.com is paying for the winner to get to the US to drive in Atlanta, Georgia and Ter-Tech/OctaneTV will provide the car and team. It is the first of its kind internationally organized qualifier with these kind of chances. They are also paying for Bill to go there in May and possibly again in August. We are getting some special treatment also since the Finnish Rally is one week before the drift event so we are getting VIP tickets to FORD team as well as possibly ride alongs with the Ford rally team drivers. Cant wait.
there you go some light for you guys.

Greetings from Finland to all the SFL drifters!

I've been involved in the founding of the new FPDA's (Finnish Pro Drifting Association) series, and everyone's really excited about the opportunity that Nopi and Ter-Tech+Octane TV are giving to the top guys. Like said above, Radalle.com, one of the three different competition event organizers of the '08 series, will host the licence day in August close to the Rally Finland weekend.

The licencing will take place on this scary track that is the Ahvenisto raceway, a bit like a mini Nürburgring I'd say since there's a lot of elevation changes and only very small safety areas. Video of Juha Rintanen, one of the top championship contestants at Ahvenisto "stadium" corners: Right click - save as.

I don't think there is another series in the whole of Europe with a similar top price, the British EDC sent their 2007 champion to do a demo at MSC Japan but that's a bit different. Nopi is full on professional stuff, something unheard of in our continent when it comes to drifting.

We'll post the official competition review videos made by KAASU-TV for you as well as soon as the season kicks off on the first weekend of May. I bet at least some of you might be interested in who's going to be coming over to show his skills at the Nopi finals.

Hehe, actually I've always been into drifting as well. It's kind of been at the back of my head all along, that if I ever build another race car it'll be for drift. There just weren't any proper drifting events over here when I started with the S12, and in my standards hasn't been a well enough organized series to participate in untill now with the FPDA.

Now that Hannu moved over here and the idea behind the FPDA started to grow I kind of volunteered to help making the rules and stuff as I've been in the motorsport scene over here all my life, and want to give the drifters an equal opportunity to have good competitions and series, just like us grip racers have had for decades. Only thing is that now with this Nopi price it's gone way beyond all road race and rally series we have!

hey do well in the comp so you can come over here i'd like to meet you in person lol

Hehe, I will still be firmly grip racing in '08, only helping out at the drift events. Got my own final race on the Atlanta weekend as well, which is actually good because, to be honest, otherwise I'd have paid the trip to Atlanta out of my own pocket and been skint ever after... But perhaps in 2009 I'll come over. :)
