Over heating and excessive pressure.

I have a 96' 240 with a sr20det with a Koyo radiater and duel electric flexalite fans that constantly run.

My top rad hose always swells up to about the size of my arm all the time but the temp will be ok. Other times the temp will rise. My water pump seems fine. The radiator is atleast 4 yrs old.

Any suggestions.

you radiator hose is bad, it will pop. change it. it is not supposed to swell overheating or not.

does your temp just randomly rise? how long does it take before it will go down? it might be air in the system passing over the temp sensor.

During normal driving the temp stays fine. It gets hot after about 5 runs. It returns to normal really fast after I turn the car off. Like 10 min.

What is a T-stat? and what is the advantage to having a clutch fan over electric?

omg, a t-stat is a thermostat
clutch is consistent and it fails gradually, or rather it becomes less effective over time. nothing is wrong with electric its just got to flow enough.

a thermostat is a valve in your coolant system, basically, correct me if i'm wrong, it opens and closes at certain predetermed temps, to let the water in the rad cool down, while the water IN your motor gets hot, when "motor water" gets hot enough, the valve opens, and your coolant system circulates till the motor cools down enough for the valve to close, and so on and so forth...

clutch fans are awesome cause they push so much air... YES they create a drag on you motor, and you lose a little bit of HP, about the same you'd lose with the electric fan set up due to the power drain on your electrical system, but the clutch fan flows much more CFM, and is reliable as shit, and is pretty fucking cheap used...

i ran a FAL set up on my last car, for like 5 minutes...

and my current set up... clutch fan, and SR20 shroud (kinda hard to come by, but AWESOME)... mind the random Silvia grille

soon enough, i'll even have the plastic under tray/engine guard! woot! and working on a full size cooling panel to direct air through that, directly through the AC condenser, and finally to be pulled through my the shrouded clutch fan...

fuck flexalites, mishimotto fans with shroud and change ur hose.

set up for pulling, make sure u have sufficient air flow to rad, flush the system use distilled water with water wetter!

ohhh and one more thing, BLEED the system!
if problem sticks around for some fun in the sun, check water pump, thermo, and check rad water for milkiness=head gasket!

game over:bigthumbu

i have the same problem with the pressure but my ka has good compresion and my coolant is clean and so is my oil so my head gasket is good have no idea what the issue is but my shit dosnt overheat so f it

im going to have to disagree with that statement because its a very blanket statement about electric fans being inferior to clutch type. it depends on the quality of the electric fan and how much cfm it was designed to flow. flexalite imo is way too thin which is why they probably dont flow enough to keep things cool. clutch fans operate exactly like viscous diffs that operate by Newtonian fluids which become more viscous if theres a speed difference.

ive been using the same altima fans for about 5 years they have been through hell and back and r cooling my sr with a stock ka radiator just fine

i just dont under stand why ppl hate electric fans so much, they get the job done for me
