Overheating....

So i bought a s13 sr20 turbo. I keep on overheating i checked my fluid levels and i dunno what it could be...any ideas? I never had a turbo car before so i have no clue. I dunno if this could be it but the car didnt have the ac connected, so we connected the ac but notice that didnt have the condenser...
sorry if i sound stupid but i dont know what to do.

check the thermostat, and the water pump... the condenser has nothing to do with it. make sure the heater lines in the back of the engines where conected the right way or bypassed (not pinched) the clucth fan works fine as long as there is a fan shroud present......
 
ok so i'll check the thermostat and the water pump. the stock clutch fan is there. Thanks. Could there be something else i should check before i go out there?
 
check the heater hoses like dudocius said they are on the back of the motor going into the firewall. if not check if the hoses are bypassed(inlet and outlet pluged into each other) if not coolant should shoot out of them.

my friend is running a rb20 on a stock ka rad and a front mount he doesnt overheat.

i know if you rev the engine and hold it for a while and the temp drops, its either the thermostat or water pump.

if you rev it and stays hot, then you gotta kink or low air flow.

after i took out my thermostat, i didnt have to run an e-fan anymore. even in stop and go traffic. i have stock ka radiator also.
 
ok so this what i noticed....the coolant reservoir has water in it but once the car starts running it overheats, starts bubbling and then i guess it gets sucked into the radiator.

when i rev the engine it does oveheat. when i dont rev it, it slowly creeps up.

shit dude. do you have the shroud for the clutch fan?

just change out the fluid and check for kinks, leaks and air.

if that dont work, the thermostat isnt hard to get to (it took me 15 mins to take mine out). and if that dont work, you might need a water pump.
 
dude wait until it cools down, maybe there is some air trap in the system...turn on the car with the rad open, wait until the thermostat open and massage the hoses...lol

but yea check ur water pump, make sure there is no air in the system, do u have a thermostat in the motor right now???
 
ya i have an rb20 new water pump and thermo,stock rad

it ran at like 190 to 200 and i put a front mount on the other day and now it sits just above 210..is there anything i can do to help out the air flow or anything to lower the temp?
im going to use some wetter water and see if that helps
 
The first test you need to do is to open the radiator cap and start the engine let it get to normal opperating temp and make sure there is flow present, then stick your hand in the air blowing from the fan it should be warm or hot. if not your thermostat could be stuck. Or u could have a blown headgasket. What happens is this compression leaks out of the headgasket and goes into the cooling ports and over pressures the cooling system and forces the coolant out of the radiator and into reserve tank, then the radiator is low and the car overheats. The only way to test this is to do whats called a block test. If your around west palm i have the tester at my shop.
