question!

Headers crack due to excessive heat and abuse. Heat wraping them will hold more heat on them making them more susceptible to cracking. Bottom line is if they are made poorly they will crack. That’s probably not what you were hoping to hear... sorry.
 
most of the time why headers or turbo manifolds crack due to uneven surface. where the manifold or header bolt to the head. what you do is get the mounting surfaced plained or ground flat again. you can take it to any machine shop and have it done. it will cost you anywhere from 20 to 50 bucks.

^ it can also be cracked from stress.

Such as your exhaust only be hanging by the back 2 hangers. As long as your exhaust is on all the hangers, and everything is bolted up right I dont see a problem.

I have seen ebay headers that come out too long/short for the car though.
 
If its some cheap ass thin metal that wasnt welded properly yea. Thats why you see all the ebay turbo manifold with those little triangle braces on each runner, so the shit doesnt fall off (those werent there before). Just wrap it (hope your doing it for a reason), if it cracks weld it.
