Quick question about MB Weapons

Will the MB weapons clear Z brakes? I'm planning on running 17x8 in the front and 17x9 in the back on my s14 (if that even matters. i cant remember the offset off the top of my head but i will look that up if needed.)

-thanks

crap. does offset matter? or they need spacers no matter what?

and do you know about what size spacers?

On discount tire's website, when I look for 17" wheels that fit a 300zx, it brings up the 17x8 +28 which is what I would put up front (where my z brakes are.. now that i think about it the rears dont matter)

so wouldn't that mean they will clear the brakes?

its not so much the width thats the issue its that offset its gonna be kinda lame. i would get 15mm spacers that will be enough to clear your brakes, and look decent on your car.

why would you put 17x8 +28's on a s14?

+1

kelsey, have you already bought the wheels? if not, i would say go wider, staggared set ups usually promote understeer, but looks cool... if you want to clean Z brakes and want 17's, get 17x9/9.5 +15... those will clear coils, and Z brakes, no problem... might have to go with a slight roll front and rear, but that's easy enough...

I had to beg my dad to let me go 17x9 in the rear. I know the staggered promotes understeer, but he wont let me go wider up front because he doesnt want the wheels to stick out :( I think the 17x9s in the front would be fine.. but he doesnt. and he hates the stretched tires look.

oh, and Pat, he may not know much about drifting, but he has actually read a lot about drifting and set ups and has been around cars longer than you have been alive.

i'm running 17x9.5 +12 on my s13 and it doesn't stick out too much.......i mean its not agressive like no lowrider type shit......on an s14 it wouldnt even be serious like that

kelsey you need to get the lower offset vs of those wheels to not have clearance issues. just order the pair of 9's for the rear and slap them on the front and show him look see its not a thing to put these on and then order your second pair.

We measured it all out though. I shouldn't have any clearance issues...

with the +28's and your brakes??? or you saying the lower offsets?

the thing you have to take into consideration is the rear of the wheel what kind of desing it has... sometimes they may still rub/not clear your brakes. thats why for instance works has a low mid and high disk... even though they are all the same offset the low disk wont clear the big brakes.

take it from me. i have on my s13... 17x9 +28 and i had to get 10mm spacers to JUST clear my z32 brakes and thats with me having to shave the word nissan off my calipers.

1,000 percent invalid.
I can read 8,000 books on how a nascar is set-up. Setup my nascar like that, and it would probably drive like complete shit.

In drifting, its personal preference.
Reading books doesn't do shit for ya. Give a kid 3 months to read as many books on drifting and drift setups. Give another kid 3 months with a car to setup and practice on. I'm willing to bet my life that the kid with the car and practice is gonna out drive the kid reading books.

A lot of people have been around cars longer than I've been alive. That doesn't mean shit. Unless they've been actually driving them(in our case, drifting) it doesn't mean a goddamn thing. Sure, they can tell me whats wrong with my motor and why it makes this sound and fix my car. I can guarantee if they got in my car and tried to drive it, it would look like anyone else's first drift event.

Harri doesn't let his dad setup his drift car how his dad wants it, He sets it up the way he wants it. That goes for anyone that drives. They don't let people set their cars up. Yeah, maybe at first they take some direction from someone who has been driving for awhile, but after that, they change it to what they want. Im pretty sure ol papa bear isnt gonna let you change shit on his car.
