Quick Suspension advice.

I have an 1989 240sx. Its gonna take a break for a while, so imma do as much as I can. I want to start at suspension.

The only suspention I have are cusco coilovers . Wheels are huge 17" sportmax 962s. I want to buy everything (suspension wise) that im going to need for a track/weekend car, and need some say.

WHATS IMPORTANT SUSPENSION?
(lets keep camber in mind) <---damn wheels.

...and yes I searched. It Just doesnt break it down enough.

Depending on how shitty the offset on those wheels are...maybe some 20mm spacers (doesnt have too much to do with suspension)

but also

RUCAS
Tie rods (spl parts ftmfw)
Tie rod spacers (more angle ftw!)
Tension rods

thats a good start

Yeah if your wheels are 8.5" up front and you're running with +38 offset, I'd get some big ass spacers up there.

As far as suspension for tracking a car - well any slop in the suspension will result in undesirable effects at the track. I'd get rid of the not fun to replace parts first - every balljoint should be in good shape and every bushing should be replaced. If you plan on running aftermarket tension rods and rear multi link (and you should be), assuming you're not spending the mega bucks on adjustable lca's - replace the front lca bushings and the rear lca bushing with urethane. Then do the same with your knuckles. Then when you can, replace all your links. You don't have to go broke doing it either - Parts Shop Max parts look pretty nice and at $180 a pair, so does the price (this is not taking ebay china parts into consideration). I don't recommend the cheap stuff - plenty of cases of broken parts that saw no unordinary wear and tear...scary to me.

what size spacer do you recomend....I have to roll the fenders regardless.
and do you know of anyone who does or knows how to remove the old black bushings? I dont have one of those machines. Unless theres another way?

You can make your own tool to remove and install bushings but its a major pain. You can talk to Estie - he has a press.

If those are your wheel specs, I'd put on at least a 25mm spacer.

No, only 7.5 width wheels are +38

8.5's are +35. I know, I know only 2mm but just to clarify. I agree on at lest 20 to 25 mm spacers. By the way, I need someone with a press, can you PM me with Estie's contact info please!

rollordie: is that for the front and back...or just front?

I bought them about three years ago when I did not know better and committed the stupidity of getting 7.5's for the front. My rear wheels are 9.5's. Most people that I know have these wheels usually go 8.5/front 9.5/rear. I am still working on spacer width but I think I will be doing 20mm in front and 15mm in rear. This get you flushed not having to do major fender roll/pull. I am working with them cause I already bought them and can't afford to get others right now but I would rather have something else.

first off...sell those wheels.

subframe spacers are best bang for buck hands down
camber, traction and toe rods with heim joints
front tension rod and your basicly covered and can adjust your car to what ever specs your imagination can think up. follow up with some decent sway bars and possibly some sturt bars and your good to go.

just remember to keep the heim joints greased and dont mind the metal on metal sound..that just means ur doing it right.
