RB20 swap??

On my rb i have the maf on the intake tube. so the my cars setup is diffrent then yours. you have a blow by setup or atleast thats what i think its called.

It still wouldn't matter. The MAF reads x amount of air comming in at either place. The ideal way is to use a MAP sensor, then you don't need to worry. I bet if you hooked up a wideband O2 to your car, you would see a large spike where it runs rich when the bov vents. Ever notice when turbo cars shoot flames out the back when they back off the throttle? That is in part due to the extra amount of fuel in the exhaust.

its a nice motor cause it can take a punishing, with the same power that an sr puts down this one can do it, and it can take the power better, cause its more stable than the 4's. also the one big thing that i was looking into this motor was the high rev's. i can one day build it up to be able to rev to 9k, and the tranny can take it. unlike the sr's there tranny's cant. its just a better motor cause of the stabilty of the 6>4. plus it sounds good.

thanks rwd rea. i cant wait to do this swap. i will do it after i finsh closing on my condo. hopefully

oh and btw this is not a debate thread, this is a thread on how to swap it. i dont want a sr vs rb on this so lets not even go there here, all i want to know is what it takes to get it done! we can start a vs thread elsewhere please!!!!!!

Time to learn: FS5W71C. That's the RB20det's transmission.

FS5W71C. That's the SR20det's transmission.

Notice, they are the same.

Thats why you can use rb trannys on 240's. people use the rb25/26 flywheels and 300zx clucths on KA's the flywheel has the same pattern but is a bit bigger than the ka.

Right, but Devil man is under the assumption that RB20det's have str0ng trannies to withstand rpm's an SR tranny could not. Thanks.

ohh ok i get your point.. lol..

well it's not just him but every one. rb's are not motors that are ment to rev up to 9k. people need to rember that since its a inline 6 that they make more power at less rpm's.

ouchies, ok thanks than, i will have to look into getting a rb25 tranny then later on. this does work and is stronger right?

yes it will work. but jsut so you know they are really expensive why dont you think about upgrading to a rb25 instead of the rb20. they go for like $2500 you'll have a stronger motor and tranny.

you can spend the extra $1000 now or later when you look for the tranny.

Rb20det tranny is crap...
Either way, if you want to run an atmospheric blow-off just run an safc and fuck with the dec. air settings.
Some cars will run fine with atmospheric blow-off some will run like total ass like mine did, till I fined tuned it with the piggy back.

He wants revs and rb25's rev for crap.

Best solution, as said earlier, is an rb26. Revs, displacement, manliness, and...oh yeah, you'll still have to pay $1000 for a transmission.

LS1

RB26 FTW (I should know!!!!!!!!!!!) 9k rev here i come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh and u can use an rb2o trans on a 26 it wont cost 1200!!!!!

RB25's can rev that high...just depends on which RB25 you get...the one that you want in order to be able to rev high is the NEO RB25...solid lifters, RB26 rods, stronger pistons, better cams...top feed injectors...pluses all the way aorund

ok but still rb26 or bust!!!!

rb25 is only an excuse for and lack of money, time and labor! thats only a fact!

ok an rb25 neo is cool!(yes cool factor points) but it still aint no rb26dett!

true...but i would be happy to put a similarly modded RB26 to my NEO to see the power diff..wont be much that i can tell ya

well... i say do it! put a 26 in that s14 and match it up to the neo! i could promise u would make more power!

sorry for the attitude but im a go big or go home person!!! i say u car and looks sick!!! check out baby-eater on members rides! thats my new project!

oh i feel ya there...i just couldnt see spending that much more cheddar on a RB26 when you can obtain the power you want cheaper...not the a RB is cheap by any means..lol

I went with the rb20det only because it's cheap...It's a very cheap motor. Bought mine for 1k, find me an sr20det/rb25det/rb26dett for that price...If I had an abundance of cash in the bank I would go with an ls1/6spd...Hands down. The rb26dett is a monster but, v8 power bro...Ls1/cam/slicks/ 150 shot...That rb26 is done...

im going rb20 cause i dont want to spend a fortune on the rb26 and i want to rev out. anywho thanks for the help, now im going to make a thread on turbos to better understand them, i think that i have all the info i need here from this, and anyone else too.

i see rb reds13 that you were selling your car, is that still the case?
