RB20 tranny doesn't go into reverse

I've tried googleing it and I saw one person with the exact same issue but in the end no solution response from him, as if he figured it out then left the thread without saying what it was.. so I ask for your help.

I cannot get my car into reverse, I've tried going to first/reverse and it just doesn't go in, it feels like there's something in the way, if I try holding it there and start to release the clutch I'll start to grind... what could it be?

thing is, before I threw it in it would shift into reverse, and the previous owner said reverse worked.


so there has to be something else that's not working correctly

When my rb20 tyranny does that, I pump the clutch a couple times and it let's it in. It only does it once in a blue moon for me though.

are u sure the clutch is fully disengaging

Did you do a bellhousing swap recently? Your detent balls may have gotten misaligned to your shifter rail. How is 1st gear?

every gear enters completely fine, I launched 1st gear and it didn't spit it out

I'm going to bleed my clutch one more time to make sure, but my car isn't moving at all when I throw it in any gears

Do any of you guys know if I can just throw my bellhousing on a KA tranny and put it right back in?

dude if it's a RB20DET 5 speed trans it's a fucking 71C

SR20 = 71C
KA = 71C
VG30E Z31 = 71C
CA18DET = 71c
5 speed pathfinder = 71C
S12 VG se = 71B
S130 280ZX N/A = 71C

learn to search mix two and two together and use common sense, nissan is stupid but not that stupid.
